Enabling your ZTE modem/router to work with Optus
In this article, we'll help you set up your ZTE modem to help you get connected to our network as smoothly as possible.
We support a range of modems, but as every device is a little different, it's important to check if your modem is compatible. If you run into any issues, we'll do our best to get your nbn® modem working, though support for non-Optus modems is limited.
Remove carrier specific settings
- In your internet browser, type http://192.168.20.1 into the browsers address bar and press enter
- Login with these details
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
- Ensure you are logged in as 'admin'. Logging in as 'user' will hide a number of settings that need to be changed.
- Navigate to the 'DSL' tab
- Remove the following items that are defaulted to your previous provider
Note: you will not be able to delete the settings in "Management and Diagnosis" under TR-069.
Enable IPoE
- Navigate to the 'Ethernet' tab on the WAN page
- Delete any existing Ethernet connections
- Select 'Create new item'
- Input the following settings:
- Connection Name: Optus (or name of choice)
- Type: Routing
- Service list: Internet
- Link Type: IP
- IP Version: IPv4
- IPv4 Type: DHCP
- NAT: On
- VLAN: Off
- Select 'Apply'
- Select the 'DSL' tab and delete all items.
- Restart modem router, if necessary
