From February 2025, we are writing to OptusNet Email customers about changes we're making to the service. Optus is making significant upgrades to our OptusNet email service, a service that’s been provided to our customers for nearly 30 years . We’re investing in the Optusnet email service in order to deliver a more secure, modern email service that will provide enhanced benefits for our customers.

 FAQs

Is Optus shutting down OptusNet?

No, we’re not shutting down our OptusNet service. In fact, we’re investing in the service to improve its functionality, security and the overall experience for our customers.

Will my Optusnet service continue to be at no charge?

Customers with an eligible Optus product or service* will continue to access their Optusnet email service at no additional charge on the OptusNet Basic plan. Don’t worry, we’ll notify you if this ever changes and present options before any charging would occur, so that you can decide what you’d prefer to do.

If you don’t have any eligible Optus product or service with us and have an active Optusnet email service, we will be contacting you to discuss your options.

For more information about the OptusNet plans, see above.*An eligible product or service currently means a mobile broadband, NBN, 4G or 5G Home internet, postpaid mobile, Fetch, and connected devices (each an eligible service) and does not include Optus Sport and prepaid mobile services.

Why does my email look different?

If you use webmail to access your OptusNet service, you’ll notice a new look mailbox interface that we hope you enjoy using. It will continue to be easy to use and navigate. When you first access your new mailbox, you’ll be provided with a tutorial to help you get the most from this new interface.

I used to have an Optusnet email. What happened to it?
If you have not used your Optusnet email in a while, it may have been closed. Please see the article We're checking the status of your OptusNet email service for more information.
Can I continue to access my OptusNet email with my existing login details on the new email platform?

Yes, you’ll continue to access your OptusNet email service using your existing login as you always have. There will be no changes to the way you access your OptusNet service.

Will access to my OptusNet email change?

For most customers, there will be no change in how you access your OptusNet email. However, older versions of some third-party email clients (such as Outlook 2010) will no longer be supported. These outdated clients no longer receive updates or security patches and may not meet current encryption and security standards. To continue using a third-party email client, you may need to update to a newer version. Alternatively, you can access your email through Optus Webmail.

I would like to sign up to a new Optusnet email address?

At this stage, our focus is on continuing to provide email services to our customers with an existing OptusNet email. Currently, sign up to new OptusNet email services are not available.

As notified to OptusNet email customers, our Optus Standard Agreement, including our Consumer Terms and, the OptusNet Terms of Use (Appendix GG3) apply to OptusNet email customers and plans. By continuing to use the service, customers and users agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
