Enabling your TP-Link modem/router to work with Optus
In this article, we'll help you set up your TP-Link modem to help you get connected to our network as smoothly as possible.
We support a range of modems, but as every device is a little different, it's important to check if your modem is compatible. If you run into any issues, we'll do our best to get your nbn® modem working, though support for non-Optus modems is limited.
TP-Link AC1200
- In your internet browser, type 192.168.1.1 or http://tplinkwifi.net into the browsers address bar and press enter
- Login with these details:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
- Select 'Basic', and then 'Internet'
- From the Internet Connection Type dropdown, select 'Dynamic IP'
- Select 'Do NOT Clone MAC address'
- Select 'Save'
- Restart router, if necessary
TP-Link Archer AX1500 (VX220-G2v v2.0)
You may need to change your TP-Link Archer AX1500 to use IPoE.
- In your internet browser, type http://192.168.1.1 into the browsers address bar and press enter
- Login with these details:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
- Select 'Settings', then 'Internet'
- Select 'Dynamic IP' in the 'Internet Connection Type' dropdown
- Select 'Clone MAC address' in the 'Router MAC address' dropdown
- Select 'Save'
- Restart router, if necessary
TP-Link Archer AX5400
- In your internet browser, type http://192.168.1.1 or http://tplinkwifi.net into the browsers address bar and press enter
- Login with these details:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
- Select 'Network' and then 'Internet'
- Select a port. This port will be the same as where the cable is connected on your router.
5. Select the following details:
- Internet connection type: Dynamic IP
- Router MAC address: Use default MAC address
6. Select 'Save' 7. Restart router, if necessary
TP-Link TD-W9970
- In your internet browser, type http://192.168.1.1 into the browsers address bar and press enter
- Login with these details:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
- Select 'Basic', then 'Internet'
- Select the following details:
- ISP list: Other
- VPI: (no change)
- VCI: (no change)
- Internet connection type: Dynamic IP
- Select 'Save'
- Restart your modem/router, if necessary
TP-Link Archer VR900 V3 / V2 / V1
For FTTP/HFC/FTTC technology types
- In your internet browser, type http://192.168.1.1 or http://tplinkwifi.net into the browsers address bar and press enter
- Login with these details:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
- Select 'Basic' and then 'Internet'
- Select the following details
- ISP list: Other
- DSL modulation type: VDSL
- VLAN ID: Unchecked
- Internet connection type: Dynamic IP
- Select 'Save'
- Restart your modem/router, if necessary
For FTTN/FTTB technology types
- Navigate to 192.168.1.1 or http://tplinkwifi.net and log in with:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
- Select 'Network' and then 'DSL settings'
- Select the following details
- DSL Modulation Type: VDSL2
- Annex Type: Annex A
- Enable Bit Swap: Checked
- Enabled SRA: Checked
- Disable AELEM: Unchecked
- Select 'Save'
- Select 'Quick setup' in the left hand navigation and then 'Next'
- Select region as 'Australia' and your local timezone, and then 'Next'
- Select 'No. I want to configure The Internet Connection myself' and then 'Next'
- Select the following details
- ISP: Other
- L2 Interface Type: VDSL
- Enable VLAN ID: Unchecked
- Connection Type: Dynamic IP
- Select 'Next' till you reach a summary screen and then select 'Save'
- Restart your modem/router, if necessary
TP-Link VR1600v
Option A
- Navigate to http://tplinkmodem.net and login with these details:
- Default username: admin (see sticker on the bottom of device)
- Default password: admin (see sticker on the bottom of device)
- Go to Advance > Network > DLS and click on 'Delete All'
Go to Advanced > Operation Mode
- Select DSL Modem Router Mode for FTTN/FTTB
- Select Wireless Router Mode for FTTC/FTTP/HFC
- Go toBasic > Internet
- Select Select Dynamic IP as the Internet Connection Type
- Click Save to apply changes
- Restart/Reboot your modem by switching it off and on after 10 seconds
Option B
- Navigate to http://tplinkmodem.net and login with these details:
- Default username: admin (see sticker on the bottom of device)
- Default password: admin (see sticker on the bottom of device)
- Go to Advance > Network > DLS and click on 'Delete All'
Go to Advanced > Network
- Select DSL for FTTN/FTTB
- Select EWAN for FTTC/FTTP/HFC
4. Uncheck VLAN ID (if applicable) 5. Set the VLAN ID (1-4094) to zero 6. Select Select Dynamic IP as the Internet Connection Type 7. Click Save to apply changes 8. Restart/Reboot your modem by switching it off and on after 10 seconds
