Connection requirements for Fetch

From 7 March 2022, we'll no longer be offering our customers the ability to add a new Fetch service to their Optus account or purchase a standalone Fetch service through us.

If you're looking to add an entertainment option to your existing Optus service, we suggest Optus SubHub, as it offers you the ability to purchase and manage a range of entertainment, lifestyle, and education subscription services.

If you have an existing Fetch service with us, you'll retain full functionality, and you can continue to use your service as you do today.

To connect a Fetch set top box, you need the following:

  • A Home Internet service
  • A modem with a spare Ethernet port
  • A widescreen television
  • An existing, roof-mounted, Free-To-Air TV antenna (needed for free-to-air channels). We also recommend using quad-shielded antenna cabling (available from most electronics retailers) to ensure you receive the best possible signal for Free-to-Air channels
  • If your Fetch Mini and Mighty set top boxes are near your modem, then you can connect via Ethernet. Alternatively, you can connect the boxes via WiFi if you have a stable WiFi connection

Fetch streams are delivered using Adaptive Bitrate Streaming Technology at a resolution of up to 720p. Here are the minimum Internet speeds required for streaming Standard Definition video via Fetch or Fetch Multiroom.

  • 1 stream: 3.5-4Mbps
  • 2 streams: 4-6Mbps
  • 3 streams: 7-8Mbps

You can test your current Internet speed at www.speedtest.net
