Who owns the nbn® equipment?

The information below explains who owns the nbn equipment once your installation is complete.

Note: Any equipment owned by NBN Colimited should not be taken with you if you decide to move home.

Who owns the installed equipment?

All cords and cables required for your nbn connection are supplied along with your equipment.

Premises Connection Device

This is owned by NBN Colimited, and is located outside your premises. It's used to connect your home to the fibre network.

Fibre Wall Outlet

This is owned by NBN Colimited and is located inside your premises. It's used to connect the inside of your home to the Premises Connection Device.

Network Termination Device (NTD)

This is owned by nbn® and used in the installation of Fibre to the Premises connections. It is securely fastened inside your premises and is used to connect your modem to the Fibre Wall Outlet.

If you ever need to clean the Network Termination Device, use a damp (not wet) anti-static cloth. Avoid the use of any chemicals or sprays as liquid can cause damage.

FTTP NTD

The NTD used for FTTP services which connects to your Fibre Wall Outlet and Optus supplied modem.

Connection Box (device)

This is owned by nbn® and serves the same purpose as an NTD. Rather than being fixed to the inside of your home, the Connection Box is a free-standing device. The Connection Box is used to provide service to HFC and Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) connections.
