We're making changes to your Prepaid mobile plan

As our customers' needs and technology evolve, we continue to improve our Prepaid plans. This means we'll be saying goodbye to our older plans and moving you to our latest plan Optus Flex Plus.

Our ongoing and increasing costs to deliver our products and services means these plans include an increase to the price. Also, there is a change to some inclusions and some expiry periods are no longer available. And as a thanks for being with Optus, existing Optus Flex 4G (Flex) customers being moved onto Optus Flex Plus (Flex Plus) will receive extra data.

What's changing?

We'll start moving Flex customers onto our new Flex Plus plan from the date included in the message we sent you. Customers will be contacted directly via SMS with information on the change. Note, the change may not happen on the exact date and could take a few weeks.

For Optus Flex Plus inclusions and plans download the Critical Information Summary at optus.com.au/for-you/cis/flexplus.

The plan change will happen automatically, so you don't have to do anything. On the day that you have been moved, you'll receive a plan change confirmation SMS from us. Any unused data balances and inclusions on your old Flex plan will carry over and expire on their old expiry date or the date of your first Flex Plus recharge, whichever is earlier.

Extra data

On top of the Flex Plus plan inclusions, as an existing customer being moved onto Flex Plus you'll receive even more data:

  • One-off 50GB extra added to the data rollover data balance on your first Optus Flex Plus recharge
  • Up to double data on every Flex Plus recharge until 31 March 2025. See below for a breakdown:

FAQs

We recommend waiting until you receive your plan change confirmation SMS from us, confirming that we've moved you from your old Flex plan to Flex Plus. If you initiate a plan change yourself before you receive our plan change confirmation SMS, any additional data may not apply. If you have AutoRecharge on and make the plan change yourself, AutoRecharge will be turned off and you'll need to switch is back on once you've received the Flex Plus plan change confirmation SMS from us.

If you still wish to initiate a plan change yourself, before you receive your plan change confirmation SMS from us, follow these steps:

  1. Text "MENU" to 9999
  2. Select 2
  3. Follow the prompts

On the day you've been moved, you'll receive a plan change confirmation SMS from us.

Your new plan details will be reflected in My Optus app and when checking your balance via texting 'BAL' to 9999.

From the date that you've moved:

  • 5G network access will be enabled. If you have a 5G capable device and are within a coverage area, you'll be able to access this network
  • If you have an active add-on on your old plan, you can continue to use it on your Flex Plus plan until its original expiry date
  • Only Flex Plus add-ons will be available to buy
  • You'll only be able to recharge on the Flex Plus plan. On your first recharge or AutoRecharge your inclusions will reflect the Flex Plus recharge inclusions. The option to recharge via My Optus app and online optus.com.au/recharge will now be available, as well as AutoRecharge

Yes, once you've moved onto Flex Plus, you'll need to recharge to access the extra data.

Yes, so long as you've received a plan change confirmation SMS from us, you'll get the extra 50GB rollover on your first standard recharge and the double data on your first and following standard Flex Plus recharges on 28 day plans until 31 March 2025. Other expiry periods also receive extra data on recharges, see the plan table above for the data amount.

To keep rolling over the data rollover balance, you must maintain an active AutoRecharge or recharge before expiry.

Your current data rollover balance will move with you to Flex Plus. As long as your first recharge or AutoRecharge is before your expiry it'll be rolled over, and the 50GB extra will be added to this balance up to a maximum of 200GB. Any data over 200GB will be lost.

Unless you cancel your AutoRecharge which you can do by following the steps outlined below, your AutoRecharge instruction will be transferred across to the new Optus Flex Plus plan at the new Optus Flex Plus plan amount. Check the SMS's we've sent you for which Flex Plus plan you will be moved onto.

If you have AutoRecharge setup, you can change or stop your AutoRecharge anytime via My Optus app or by texting 'MENU' to 9999 and following the prompts.

To cancel your AutoRecharge before being moved to Flex Plus, we recommend doing it at least 2 days before you current expiry to ensure you will not be charged the new Optus Flex amount. You'll then be able to recharge manually, for options go to optus.com.au/prepaid/recharge/options.

If you leave AutoRecharge on, it will remain active, and your next deduction will be on a new Flex Plus amount. Below you can see which Flex Plus plan you will be moved to, based on the value of your last AutoRecharge.

Your new Flex Plus AutoRecharge will be guided by your current AutoRecharge
