How to add or remove Visual Voicemail

In this article we explain what Visual Voicemail is and how to add it to your iPhone.

Visual Voicemail allows you to view your Voicemail message notifications and listen to messages from your iPhone, without having to call 321.

You can:

• Access Voicemail without having to call 321

• Listen to messages in any order

• Reply by call or SMS

• Scroll through messages visually

• Save, archive or delete messages

• See message length

• Replay, pause, rewind or forward messages

Visual Voicemail is available to Optus Postpaid Mobile consumer and SMB customers using an iPhone running on iOS9.1 or later.

You must have data available to use Visual Voicemail.

Optus Visual Voicemail is free for Optus iPhone customers.

Data usage will be zero rated for usage within Australia. If you use Visual Voicemail while roaming, roaming data charges will apply.

You need to contact Optus to have Visual Voicemail activated on your service.

Once activated, you can then set up Visual Voicemail on your iPhone by completing the steps below:

  1. Restart your iPhone
  2. Tap on the phone icon
  3. Select Voicemail
  4. Select Set Up
  5. Enter a Voicemail password
  6. Tap Done
  7. Re-enter the password
  8. Tap Done
  9. Set a greeting

• Select Default to use the Optus Voicemail greeting

• Select Custom to record your own personal greeting

• Select Record to begin recording > Press Stop to finish > Play to listen to greeting > Save to set the greeting

Can I still call 321 to listen to my Voicemail messages?

Yes, you can still dial 321 to listen to your messages.

Can I use Visual Voicemail in conjunction with Voice to Text?

No, Visual Voicemail is not available in conjunction with other Voicemail messaging services.

Are there roaming charges for using Visual Voicemail?

Standard data roaming charges will apply unless you have roaming data as part of your plan or a data pack.

What happens to my old messages when I upgrade to Visual Voicemail?

Your old saved messages will still be available via 321.

Only new voicemail messages will appear on Visual Voicemail.

SMS Me

SMS Me is part of our regular Voicemail service and there is no additional charge.

You are sent an SMS advising when a new Voicemail message has been left.

You can activate SMS Me using the steps on this page.

Missed Call Service

Missed Call Service is a free alternative to Voicemail.

It converts a 1 minute voice message (max.) into an audio recording and sends to you as an MMS. However, it doesn't record or store the messages like Voicemail.

Voice to MMS

Voice to MMS is a paid optional add-on to Voicemail. It converts full Voicemail messages to an audio file and sends them to you as an MMS.

You can reply directly to the caller by voice or another message.
