Upcoming Mobile Plan Changes

Thank you for choosing Optus. We’re committed to continually improving our products and services for our customer’s needs and as technology evolves.

What’s changing?

Beginning 15 June 2026, we’ll be moving services on older mobile plans to our newer in-market Optus Choice and Choice Plus mobile plans. You will not need to do anything for your plan(s) to be migrated as this will be an automated process. It may take a few weeks to complete the migration of all impacted customers. Once completed, the changes will be reflected on your next bill.

As a result of these changes, you may receive a price increase and/or see changes to your plan inclusions. However, your new plan(s) will continue to have the following features:

  • 5G access: You will have access to Optus’ expanding 5G network in more locations. 5G is available in selected areas (excluding Northern Territory) for compatible device. Check Optus network coverage .
  • No Excess Data charges: No surprise data charges, and you can keep using your service even if you reach your data limit (your speed will just be slowed).
  • No lock-in contracts: You will have the flexibility to change your plans once a month.
  • 24/7 Customer Support: Manage your services and access 24/7 messaging support through My Optus app and My Account.

You may also receive a discount and/or bonus data with your new plan. This will have been explained in the direct communication sent to you.

Frequently asked questions

How will I know when I’ve been moved to the new plan(s)?

We will begin migrating customers from 15 June 2026. It may take a few weeks to complete the migration of all impacted customers. Once you've been moved to the new plans(s), you'll be able to review your new plan(s) details in the My Optus app or My Account, with changes reflected on your next bill.

I thought my mobile plan was in contract?

You're on a month-to-month plan, which offers the flexibility of no lock-in contracts. However, you may also have a 12/24/36 month device repayment with us for your phone or other device, which isn't changing.

What happens if I had a discount on my old plan?

All existing discounts you’re currently receiving on your old plan(s) will carry over to your new plan(s). If you decide to change your plan, you may no longer be eligible for your discount(s).

What inclusions and add-ons may I lose with the change?

If you currently have international roaming included in your current plan, this will no longer be included in your new plan. You can explore the roaming options available on your new plan here.

If your current plan includes Trade Up, data free Music/TV Streaming, Optus Sport and/or an Apple Music Subscription, these are no longer available and will not be included in your new plan.

If you have previously purchased additional add-ons (such as paid international talk & text or paid bonus data), these will also not carry over to your new plan unless specified in the communication we sent to you. Most new plans will, however, include higher data allowances than in the older plans and some customers may receive an ongoing International Calling Add On at no cost with their new plan. If you would like to re-purchase additional add-ons, you can view the add-on options available on your new plan via the ‘Service’ tab in My Optus app. The options and their price may be different from what you have with your current plan.

I have been told that an ongoing International Calling Add-on will be added to my new plan(s). What does this include?

If the communication you received states that international calling will be added to your plan, this will show on your bill as an add-on at no cost. Your International Calling Add-on includes international talk & text from Australia to standard numbers in Group 1 destinations: including Brazil, Brunei, Cambodia, Canada, China, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, UK, USA, Vietnam.

I received a $10/mth SubHub credit. What do I need to do?

Some customers will receive a 12-month  SubHub credit of up to $10/mth with their new plan. This will be available from 20 July 2026. If you received the credit, you will need to follow the activation flow to set up a SubHub account (if not already an active user) to begin receiving the credit. The credit will apply following the first charge of a paid subscription and will apply for the following 12 consecutive months. The credit is forfeited in months with no paid subscriptions. Learn more about SubHub and how to get started. Terms and conditions apply.

I was moved to a $90 Large Optus Choice (Apr 25) plan which contains a $20/mth SubHub credit. What does this mean?

The $90 Large Optus Choice (Apr 25) plan allows customers on this plan to get up to $20/month credit to spend on subscriptions of their choice with Optus SubHub. To receive this credit, a customer will need to follow the activation flow to set up a SubHub account (if not already an active user). The credit will apply following the first charge of a paid subscription and continue each month. The credit is forfeited in months with no paid subscriptions or if the customer moves to an ineligible plan, cancels their plan or recontracts their plan (including by adding or removing a device payment plan). Learn more about SubHub and how to get started. Terms and conditions apply.

Will there be any change to my device payments?

Any current device repayments you have will remain the same.

Will my direct debit amount automatically update?

Yes, if you pay for your services via direct debit, the amount will automatically update from your next payment cycle after 15 June 2026. You can view and manage upcoming payments in My Optus app or My Account.

Can I change my mobile plan?

You are free to change your plan to an eligible in-market plan. If you decide to change your plan, any discounts or promotions that you are receiving may no longer apply.

Can I cancel my mobile plan?

You have the right to cancel your mobile plan. You will not be charged a cancellation fee – however, if you have any device payments left to make, you will still need to pay out your remaining device payments.
