Various tasks that are performed doing trades and construction work are regarded as high-risk work. Prior to being awarded any contract that involves high risk work, Optus needs to be assured that your organisation has the risk management capability to undertake the work safely.
We want a contractor who:
- Has the workplace health and safety experience and competency to undertake the tasks we want them to perform
- Is able to meet all the requirements of pre-qualification and demonstrate how they will bring their Safety Management Plan to life at site level
- Has considered WHS resourcing, the supervision and training requirements for their workers at site.
- The broader the scope of work, such as taking on the role of a Principal Construction Contractor versus performing minor trade tasks, the more comprehensive the Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements become.
The initial step to becoming an Optus Supplier for trades and construction work is pre-qualification. For more information, click on the 'Pre-qualification' tab in the navigation bar.
Important Note – For pre-qualification purposes, Optus mandates that all Suppliers submit a current JASANZ issued ISO45001 accreditation certificate to CM3. Performing high-risk tasks for Optus is not permitted without ISO-45001 accreditation. On occasion rare exception can be made, please contact your Optus representative to discuss.
It must be made clear that any Supplier wishing to undertake construction work as part of a Government schemed program must hold Office of the Federal Safety Commission accreditation
