nbn® plan price change | May 2026

You may have been contacted about an upcoming price change to your nbn Internet plan.

Recently, nbn announced changes to its wholesale pricing, increasing the prices charged to service providers. Along with an increase in the cost of running our business (including the prices we pay to content partners like Netflix and Fetch), this influences the price of our nbn internet plans.

From 6 July 2026, the monthly access fees for some of our internet plans will increase by between $2 to $6 a month, depending on the plan you are on.

All impacted customers will be contacted directly with details of the change.

If you purchased your Optus nbn service before 18 May 2026 and you want to change or cancel your plan because of this change, you can do so by getting in touch with us before the price change date on 6 July 2026, via My Optus app or call 133 937. For Business customers, please call 133 343.

If you cancel your plan before 6 July 2026 because of this change, we'll waive a the requirement to pay out any applicable remaining device payments. However, any other outstanding fees (such as any remaining access fees) will apply. If you cancel your plan from 6 July 2026 and you have any device payments left to make, you will still need to pay these out.

We also understand that there are times when our customers may face financial hardship or other challenging circumstances. We are here to do everything we can to keep you connected.

Can I change my nbn internet plan?

You have the option change your plan to an eligible in-market plan. If you decide to change your plan, any discounts or promotions that you are receiving on your current plan may no longer apply.

If you decide to move to another Optus nbn internet plan before 6 July 2026 because of the price increase, we'll waive any applicable cancellation fees. However, any other outstanding fees (such as any remaining access fees) will apply.
