Internet connections and available bandwidth are the source of many streaming-related issues:
 

• Check you're connected to the internet and your internet speed here
• If you have another video or music streaming service, check whether you can stream content from those services
• If you detect a broader internet connection issue, please contact your Internet Service Provider for support
  
  

If your household internet connection is good, then the quality of the stream you receive could be impacted by the following:
 

Household WiFi usage

If there are lots of different devices connected to your WiFi at the same time, this can impact the overall bandwidth available for streaming. Try pausing or switching off other devices such as games console or devices streaming other content to see if streaming performance improves

WiFi connectivity

If your streaming device is connected to your modem via WiFi, then the distance between the device and the modem can impact performance:

• If possible, try connecting your device directly to the modem with an Ethernet cable connection to see if streaming performance improves
• Alternatively, try moving the device and modem closer together. If possible, avoid placing your modem near other electrical equipment (such as a microwave) to mitigate signal interference
• If your modem has two network bands (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz), try connecting your device to either one to see if streaming performance improves

If you have a large household where there may be greater distances to the modem, we recommend using a Mesh WiFi Router, to help improve your WiFi performance.

If you have a separate 4G or 5G mobile network you can connect to, such as tethering or hot spotting from your mobile device, try switching to that to see if streaming performance improves.

Optus Sport is supported on a wide range of compatible devices across web, mobile, games consoles and Smart TVs. Older device models may not be able to support the latest versions of the Optus Sport apps, so please check you are using a compatible device. To find out more, see How to watch Optus Sport.

If you're using a compatible device, we recommend that you update to the latest Operating System or software version available. You can usually check this within the Settings menu of your device.

If you update to a new version, we recommend you restart your device and any connected device (e.g. if you need to update your Apple TV software, restart the Apple TV device and restart the Television that your Apple TV is connected to).

If you're streaming from an Optus Sport app, first try shutting down the app completely and restart it. 

If your issue is still persisting, try un-installing and re-installing the Optus Sport app on your compatible device.

If you're streaming via a web browser on our compatible device, try clearing the browser's cookies & cache to see if streaming performance improves. We also recommend disabling any adblockers or extensions you may have installed on your browser. Alternatively, try streaming from an incognito or private window, or a different web browser altogether.
