Device warranties
If you're not sure whether your device repair or replacement may be covered by warranty, check out this article.
Consumer guarantees
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
If you have a consumer guarantee question or need help, you can contact us.
You may also be entitled to a warranty or guarantee under the Manufacturer's Device Warranties set out here. These are in addition to your statutory rights.
Warranty periods
If you purchased a device from Optus it will be covered by any applicable manufacturer's warranty. Manufacturers' warranties cover any manufacturing-related faults and are supported by both Optus and the device manufacturer.
A manufacturer's warranty can last 24 months (see here for a full list).
In addition to any manufacturer's warranty, the following applies:
- Optus supports customers with any minor or major device faults, as per the consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law.
- Depending on the age, value and condition of the device, Optus will cover the device for a reasonable period of time.

Nature of repairs
Manufacturer's defects are covered by warranty, but many warranties don't cover devices that are lost, stolen or physically damaged.
We can help you with device repairs whether or not your device is in warranty, but costs may apply for out-of-warranty repairs. If you have device insurance, we suggest you make a claim for out-of-warranty repairs. To make a claim with Optus insurance, click here.
