What is meant by 'good working order'?

Good working order diagram

The phone needs to be in “good working order” when you return it for an upgrade. This means the phone is fully functional - that is, it makes and receives calls and texts, connects to the internet, and is not physically damaged, except for normal wear and tear as reasonably determined by us. For example, the phone:

  • Can power on and off.
  • Has a fully functional touchscreen and battery.
  • Is not physically damaged (e.g. does not have liquid damage, cracked, discoloured or bleeding screen (LCD) or casing, does not have any missing buttons or damage to other components such as charging ports or SIM tray).
  • Does not have any missing, disassembled, customised or non-genuine parts (this does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law).
  • Is not cracked (including the touchscreen) and does not have any severe scratches (normal wear and tear such as light marks and scratches are okay).
  • Has any locking features disabled (for example, find my iPhone on iOS devices).
  • Is not IMEI blocked.
  • Is the phone you purchased from us under the mobile equipment plan.

You'll also need to make sure that the phone is in return condition. Make sure you back up your data and then delete your personal/confidential information. You'll also need to perform a factory reset and remove the SIM and any memory cards, plus disable all locking features. Additionally, you'll need to provide all documentation reasonably requested by us to help make sure the phone you're returning is the same phone we sold to you.

FAIR GO POLICY APPLIES

MY PLAN PLUS CANCELLATION: Your phone repayments are reduced by a monthly credit. If you need to cancel your plan there are no plan cancellation fees, simply pay out the full remaining cost of your phone which will include any monthly credits that Optus was going to cover.

MY PLAN PLUS PLUS NEW PHONE TRADE UP: After 12 months you can pay a one-off fee of $149, return your current device in good working order to a Yes Optus store and buy a new device on a new eligible 24/mth plan. Alternatively, if you wish to keep your original device simply pay out the full remaining cost of your device including any monthly credits that Optus was going to cover, then upgrade to a new device on a new eligible 24/mth plan. STANDARD INTERNATIONAL CALLS AND TEXT: $85, $105 and $125 My Plan Plus plan inclusions for standard international calls and text can be used to the following Selected destinations: Brazil, Brunei, Cambodia, Canada, mainland China, Columbia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, USA and Vietnam. INTERNATIONAL ROAMING INCLUSIONS: $105 and $125 My Plan Plus plans give you unlimited standard national and international talk, SMS (excludes MMS) and an included amount of data to use in Zone 1 destinations per month. For list of destinations see optus.com.au/zone1. If you exceed your included data allowance then standard pay as you go data roaming charges will apply.

USAGE ALERTS: Usage alerts are not real-time and delays of up to 48 hours may be experienced.

ADDITIONAL DATA: If you use more than 150GB on a single billing account we may continue to charge you at the same rates or restrict your data use until next billing period.

MY ACCOUNT: Services that share data may have a service login to My Account which will display all service numbers contributing or using the shared data pool on the account. If you have more than 6 services you may not be able to use My Account to monitor usage or add/change alerts.

COVERAGE: Coverage availability will vary depending on your device and location. Check coverage at optus.com.au/coverage based on your address and device.

OPTUS' COVERAGE COMMITMENT: New services only on eligible plans. Excludes prepaid to postpaid. Return the phone in good working order within 14 days, pay additional plan features and any excluded usage. You may keep the phone and pay remaining handset charges. Limit one per service. OPTIONAL EXTRAS

Optional Extras are available on a month by month basis and do not form part of your plan. You may cancel them at any time. Optus may change or withdraw an optional extra at any time and we will try and give you 21 days prior notice of a change. If an optional extra is cancelled, changed or withdrawn, you will be liable to pay charges for the optional extra service that remain active until the relevant billing cycle ends and your plan will continue for the rest of its term.

APPLE MUSIC

APPLE MUSIC FREE TRIAL

Approved customers who recontract or sign up and remain on selected plans are eligible for a 6 or 12-month Apple Music free trial subscription (depending on your plan). You must opt-in to the trial within 30 days of activation of your Optus service, or such longer period as we may notify you. If you cancel your Optus service, your right to access the trial will end and you will forfeit any remaining trial time. During your trial you will see a charge and corresponding credit on your Optus bill. At the end of the free trial period, you will automatically roll on to a paid month-to-month subscription charged at the standard monthly price on your Optus bill unless you opt out at any time during the trial period. If you opt out during the trial period, you will still have full access to the trial until the end of the trial period. Limit one free Apple Music trial with Optus per service per Apple ID.

OPTUS SPORT

SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED. FAIR GO POLICY APPLIES. PERSONAL VIEWING IN AUSTRALIA ONLY.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC APP

Fair Go Policy applies. The App is a premium product available at no extra cost for personal viewing in Australia on eligible plans for selected iOS and Android devices. This option does not form part of your plan.

Available to customers who are 18+ yrs, or 15-17yrs with parental permission, on a 24-month postpaid or 12-month SIM Only, mobile broadband and active Fetch with Optus customers. Excludes Fleet, Tech Fund and month-to-month SIM Only customers.

Eligible customers will receive 1 login per account, allowing concurrent use on 2 screens. Mobile customers may receive additional logins for additional service numbers. Mobile broadband and active Fetch from Optus customers will receive a maximum of one login per account. May take up to 4 hours after activating your service before you can successfully access the App. National Geographic content will be streamed without using your data for Optus postpaid mobile customers. Other content such as ads, authentication, app analytics, Optus Competition Page or links to third party sites are excluded and may incur data charges.

Access to the National Geographic App will be available until June 2020 unless withdrawn earlier, or you move to an ineligible plan.

OPTIONAL INTERNATIONAL CALLS PACK: Available on $45 and $65 My Plan Plus and is a monthly recurring pack to be used to selected destinations for calls, SMS and MMS. Includes unlimited standard international calls to mobile and fixed lines and standard unlimited text. The pack can be cancelled at any time.
