Is there a limit to the number of plans I can connect to a Data Sharing?
The good news is you can have as many eligible mobile and mobile broadband plans on the same account as you like (subject to credit check approval), allowing you to combine and share data across all the devices connected to the one account.
Optus Choice Plus, Optus Choice Plus Data, Optus Plus Family and Optus Plus Kids plans can only share data with each other. Check your CIS document or My Optus app to check your plan.
How can I keep track of my usage?
We'll send you SMS usage alerts once you've reached approximately 50%, 85% and 100% of your combined shared data inclusion. If you are eligible and have automatic $10 per 1GB turned on, once you have used your total shared data allowance we will send you an SMS at 50%, 85% and 100% of any additional 1GB of data used.

Does my Data Sharing’s data roll over from month-to-month?
No, any unused data in Data Sharing expires at the end of the your payment cycle.
Can I share data using my existing Optus mobile phone or mobile broadband plan?
Your services will need to be on the same account to get Data Sharing and you will need to ensure that your services are connected to eligible plans. The eligible plans include:
- Optus Choice mobile & Data SIM plans
- Optus Choice Family and Kids plans
- Optus One mobile plans
- Data Plans (released after 9th of September 2019)
- My Plan Plus mobile phone plans
- My Plan Plus SIM Only plans
- My Plan Flex leasing plans
- My Mobile Broadband Plus plans
- Promo Plus plans
- Promo Flex plans
- My Promo Plus 12M SIM plans
If your services are not on an eligible plan, then to take advantage of Data Sharing you will need to change to one of the plans listed above and there may be cancellation or other fees payable.
If your services are on eligible plans but different accounts you will need to contact Customer Care on 133 937 to have them put on the one account.
Can I share data using the new Optus Choice Plus plans?
Your services will need to be on the same account to get Data Sharing and you will need to ensure that your devices are connected to eligible Optus Choice Plus, Optus Choice Plus Data, Optus Plus Family and Optus Plus Kids plans.
What if I don’t want to share my mobile or mobile broadband plan’s data?
Eligible Postpaid plans on the same account will combine their included data and any extra data into a single pool.
If you don't want to share your data between your services they'll need to be on separate accounts.
Can I share my included minutes?
Your plan’s included minutes are not shareable. A plan’s included minutes can only be used by the mobile service to which they are connected, but remember, any mobile service connected to our latest month-to-month mobile plans, will get the benefit of unlimited minutes to standard national Australian mobiles and landlines, 13/1300 numbers and voicemail.
Can I share included SMS/MMS?
Your included SMS/MMS are not shareable. A plan’s included SMS/MMS can only be used by the mobile service to which they are connected. Remember, any mobile service connected to our latest month-to-month mobile plans will get the benefit of unlimited standard national SMS/MMS. You also get unlimited international standard SMS/MMS to selected countries on selected month-to-month mobile plans.
Can I stream Mobile TV and Music without using my plan’s data on all my devices if I Data Share?
No, you can only stream Mobile TV and Music without using your plan’s data on services which have the month-to-month entertainment option(s) activated.
