Australia's fastest 5G for mobile downloads

Optus has been crowned by Opensignal as Australia’s fastest mobile network for “5G download speed”, and winners of “5G video experience” and “5G games experience” ^{(1, 2)} – and we’re prouder than ever to say we’re committed to improving the experience for our customers.

In Opensignal’s latest report, Optus dominated the competition by taking home eight awards, including ones for “time on network”, “reliability experience” and “4G download speed”. As a result, Optus is Opensignal's most awarded network in May 2026, continuing on from being the most awarded across both April and October 2025 Opensignal Mobile Experience Reports in Australia.

It’s no small task to win Australia’s fastest 5G network for mobile downloads, but we’re focused on listening to our customers and improving our network every day. We’re grateful for the trust that Australians put in us every day – and we’re working hard to not let them down.

We’re focused on improving customer experience in regional areas. We’re aiming to get 2,444 5G network towers operational across regional Australia – from Busselton to Bundaberg, to Katherine and Kangaroo Island – by 2030. We know our customers want an improved 5G network compared to 4G, and we’re keen on delivering it.

On top of improving our 5G performance, we’re expanding automated call testing to ensure Triple Zero (000) calls work on the Optus network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We’ve also established a dedicated team to monitor and identify Triple Zero issues faster.

Beyond this, we know our customers want more human customer service and safer digital experiences. Human tech support is available online with Optus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and phone support is available between 9am and 5pm every day (Sydney time).

Meanwhile, Optus has blocked over 890 million scam calls and texts since 2020, with a team of experts working to protect our customers every day.
