If you are a Supplier undertaking temporary works at an Optus retail outlet, you may need to align your emergency response plans with those of the external property owner/management group (managed services contractor) or a local authority.
At times, the maintenance of essential emergency warning systems and associated equipment, such as fire extinguishers and first responders, may fall under the responsibility of external stakeholders. This should be done in consultation with the relevant stakeholders identified in the site risk assessment.
However, it is the responsibility of the Supplier to consult with store managers in the first instance to establish what other duty holders need to be consulted with.
Many shopping centres, building managers, and owners already have emergency plans established to fulfill their legislative requirements. In such work environments, the involvement of identified stakeholders is crucial in establishing a robust emergency response and ensuring adequate preparation. Consulting with these stakeholders is essential.
The Emergency Response Plan is to provide a clear understanding of who has responsibility for the management of emergency situations at the work location and communicated to all relevant workers.
On some Optus work locations, it may be the responsibility of a contractor to ensure a site or project specific Emergency Response is plan in place and available upon request.
