Frequently asked questions

What is Starlink?

Starlink is a satellite internet network offering lower latency internet connections in remote and regional locations, compared with internet on geostationary satellites. Starlink is engineered by SpaceX.

How do I check if my address is serviceable for Optus Satellite Internet for Business?

Please ensure that the proposed location of the Starlink will have a clear field of view. The proposed location will enable the Starlink to be securely installed on a structurally sound, horizontal surface and so that equipment will not become dislodged due to inclement weather or other external factors.

You must ensure the Starlink will not be installed within 4 metres of other antennae or under a radome (as doing so may adversely affect terminal performance), on any vehicle if it is not stable or if it cannot be properly secured as described in the Install Guide and used with the proper mount.

Can Optus change my plan?

From time to time we may make changes to your plan, including price and inclusions, or we may move you to a new plan (which may cost more). If we change your plan or move you to a new plan and we reasonably consider that change or move has more than a minor detrimental impact on you:

a) We’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice before making changes or automatically moving you to the closest available plan.
b) If you don’t like the changes or the new plan, you can cancel your plan.

Can I have a different billing date for my Optus Satellite Internet service?

Optus invoices for Optus Satellite Internet services from the 1st day of each calendar month. This is to align with data pool resets and cannot be changed at this time.

If your existing account is not able to be invoiced on the 1st day of the month a new invoice will be required for your Optus Satellite Internet service.

Can I use my existing Starlink equipment?

You may be able to use your existing Starlink equipment. If who choose to take the BYO option, you will need to consent to specific terms relating to the resulting limitations that may impact your service.

How do I transfer my Starlink Kit from Starlink to Optus?
