How to keep your team healthy

Changing seasons, variants of viruses, there’s always something going on that impacts our health. On top of this, you’ve tight deadlines increasing the stress. Managing such challenging situations requires a healthy lifestyle that’s easy to follow.
If you run a small or medium business, there are many ways to help employees feel their best and perform at their peak.
Every company provides career or sick leaves, but sometimes the needs of your employees don’t align with either. Someone might want to take an hour off or need some time to focus. Encourage your team to send in requests for time off when needed. Gifting time off after a long and strenuous project can be a welcome break.
If your teammate needs half an hour to take care of their sick child or parent urgently, give them the space to do so. A reminder that they should completely disconnect from the internet is also helpful.
Long meetings, company events, or office lunches - no event is complete without a good meal. Swap muffins, doughnuts or ice creams with fresh seasonal fruits, salad bars, herbal teas or a live juice counter. Employees will be inclined to make better choices and escape that heavy feeling after a large meal.
If an event demands dietary requirements, keep at least two items per category. There’s nothing more disappointing than seeing a lonely chunk of roasted pumpkin for the vegetarian/vegan teammate.
The next time you plan a team event, choose an activity instead of lunch or dinner. Yoga is a form of exercise that doesn’t need much other than a mat and towel. You can schedule a session with a trained Yoga trainer. Convert those lunch meetings to a walk-and-talk set-up. You can also plan a picnic on a beach or walk a trail with your team. There are many safe and fun options based on your team size and budget.
Many came close to losing their sanity over sanitisation in the last two years. Luckily, we survived that and emerged with better hygiene practices. Reminding the employees to keep a safe distance, clean the workstations regularly or stay at home if unwell is essential.
Ensure the office has a stock of wipes, hand sanitisers and a physically distanced works station. Someone could be uncomfortable hugging, so come up with a fantastic new way to wave or practice elbow-high five. Who said staying healthy was boring?
If you believe that success comes to those who are always severe and work crazy hours, Daniel Ricciardo will break the myth. Meet your team without a plan, play a game of Jenga, or watch a game of footy on the projector in the office.
Reward your employees for meeting tight deadlines, managing a long project or showing up to manage a critical task. Morale boosting is a great way to increase the happiness quotient of an individual.
Good health is a journey that combines taking care of the mind and body. With these ideas and tips, we hope you can make it enjoyable.
