The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the ultimate foldable experience. Unfolding into an epic 8" display that's almost fully square, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra offers an extremely impressive mix of high-end tablet functionality when unfolded with a feature-packed typical smartphone when folded.
This is the top smartphone in Samsung's 2026 range of foldable smartphones, and includes the most high-end specs, an undeniably gorgeous display. It’s an epic device for watching videos on, scrolling social media, or getting work done with its large internal screen. Being able to have multiple apps open at once was an enormous perk, allowing you to have a video playing while drafting an email or sending a text to someone, for example.

- Thin, traditional smartphone experience folded, enormous display when unfolded
- Powerful Snapdragon Elite 8 Gen 5 processor
- Perfect large display for content maximisers
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra offers the largest display of Samsung’s current range of smartphones, and it’s perfect for people who want to watch stuff on the go with a tablet-like screen, or want to smash out some work with multiple apps open at once.
As a traditional book-style foldable, the Samsung Galaxy Fold8 Ultra has a tall but otherwise pretty standard screen when folded. But when unfolded, it has a near square display experience.
When you want to quickly respond to messages, casually scroll with one hand or answer a call to your ear, the phone is best folded. When you want to see the ‘bigger picture’, such as if you’re watching a movie on a train, doing some mobile gaming, or getting some work done on your phone, you’ll be more satisfied with the phone unfolded.
When typing out documents, I really liked holding the phone in both hands and typing into a text app. While I’d do this, I’d have YouTube open, streaming a video I was passively watching at the same time. It’s a neat feature and a good reason to pick up such a large phone.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has also been made stronger with Samsung's Flex Titanium technology, involving a layer of thin titanium under the display to improve structural integrity while ensuring a light weight. The phone also comes with a smooth unfolding mechanism with Armour FlexHinge, including a widened gap on the inner bezel, allowing you to more easily unfold.
If you’re concerned about the phone being potentially too big, then you may be more interested in its smaller sibling, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, which offers many of the same awesome features and specs in a shorter, passport-sized device.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra offers the most powerful array of cameras among the 2026 range of Samsung foldables. Led by the impressive 200MP wide lens, the phone captures impressive detail and depth, while utilizing and distributing light to ensure satisfying picture quality.
The same satisfying experience applies to the telephoto and and ultrawide lenses, allowing the user to snap wide-angle shots, detailed close-up macro shots, and up to 30x digital zoom photos.
Better yet, the multiple displays come in handy when taking photos. Samsung FlexCam allows you to capture hands-free videos without propping your phone up on a tripod or awkwardly against a wall. Enable FlexCam, Pitch your phone at an angle, motion your hand as instructed, and the photo will be snapped.
On the software side, Samsung has introduced a Dual Recording feature that allows users to record from both outside cameras and selfie cameras at once, allowing the user's reaction to be captured in the moment. There's also a new feature called My FanCam, which tracks selected subjects and reframes footage in preferred aspect ratios, saving you time when editing videos.

- 8" Main Display, QXGA+, Dynamic AMOLED 2X, Adaptive 1 ~ 120Hz Refresh, 6.5” Cover Display, FHD+, Dynamic AMOLED 2X, Adaptive 1 ~ 120Hz Refresh
- 2504 x 2256 resolution main display, 2520 x 1080 resolution cover display
- 3,000 nits peak brightness
We couldn’t forget displays when talking about the Samsung Galaxy Fold8 Ultra. The main internal display is enormous and offers the user an immersive experience, whether they’re watching movies, playing games, or just scrolling on social media. Meanwhile the external ‘cover’ display is fitting as a thin and dependable screen that slips right into your pocket, as it’s operational when the phone is folded.
Colour popped satisfyingly on the Galaxy Fold8 Ultra’s displays, thanks to the dependable resolutions and AMOLED 2X panels on both screens. Streaming some of my favourite shows, I was consistently impressed with how well presented colourful scenes were, with great depth and deep blacks on display.
The 1 ~ 120Hz refresh rate of both displays allow animations and games to operate smoothly, with the cover display ideal for quick actions where you wouldn't mind having a more classic style smartphone, and the unfolded display perfect for when you'd prefer a tablet-like size, such as for streaming or working.
Should you buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is absolutely worth considering if you’re looking for a phone to, essentially, treat like a tablet whenever you want to play games, stream content or get some work done on the go. I really enjoyed switching between both display types when on the move, and on the whole I loved how both displays looked when watching movies and TV shows.
If the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is not really your style, you should also consider the flip-style Galaxy Z Flip8 and the Galaxy Z Fold8, particularly if you're after a smaller but just as reliable handset.
- Typical value tested under third-party laboratory conditions.
