The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 is flipping awesome. Offering the exceptional performance that Samsung has come to be known for, The Galaxy Z Flip8 adds a lot of fun convenience to your standard smartphone experience.
With its hinge horizontally oriented, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 throws back to classic flip phones that'd open and close satisfyingly. When unfolded, you get the classic smartphone experience with a nice bright screen and processing power that goes all day. When folded, the phone becomes square shaped, making it ultra convenient for fitting in a pocket or bag.
I spent a week with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8, and I absolutely fell in love with it. Here's why I'd recommend it.

Samsung has only improved its flip phone formula with the Galaxy Z Flip8. As the lightest and thinnest Flip yet, the phone has undeniable personality, and it's a great device to consider if you want a phone that's a little more expressive, with its customizable Cover Display fitting a wide range of tastes and preferences.
The cover display, which Samsung calls the 'FlexWindow', has a lot of useful functionality. Glanceable information, such as weather, the time, a calendar view and Samsung's Now Brief feature are all accessible via this outer display. I really loved this feature when I was on the go – being able to quickly pull the phone out of my pocket and have a small screen show all the information I need felt so seamless.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 has also been updated with a brighter main display and a new improved hinge structure also reduces the visible crease for more uninterrupted viewing.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 review: cameras

- 50MP main (wide) camera
- 12MP ultrawide camera
- 10MP selfie camera
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 has tremendous camera performance, and I was consistently impressed with the photos I was taking with the device. The 50MP main camera captures all the light, colour and detail that you'd want from a premium smartphone, while the ultrawide camera perfectly zooms out to snap landscapes – and up close for macro detail.
Selfies with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 are super convenient. Setting the phone up at half folded, pitched at a 90 degree angle, you can easily see the photo you want to take from far away, and do a pinch gesture with your hand to quickly take a photo. Using the cover display for this allows you to take even better photos, utilising the phone's 50MP lens.

- 6.9" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, 4.1" Super AMOLED cover display
- 2520 x 1080 resolution main display, 1048 x 948 cover display
- 2,600 nits peak brightness
I was very satisfied with the displays of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8. The convenience of having a small square-shaped smartphone in your pocket, sitting comfortably and not stretching the fabric, was awesome, with the phone's outer display great for quick actions (such as checking the time, changing a song, or quickly responding to a message) and the full display perfect for bigger things (like scrolling on social media or playing games).
The screens operate at satisfying resolutions allowing colours to pop and visuals to look sharp and detailed. I enjoyed streaming shows on the phone's inner display, but I also really enjoyed playing around with the cover screen and having a blast giving it a touch of personalisation (fun fact: you can make GIFs wallpapers on this external screen!).
This phone is all personality and style. It's a sharp-looking foldable with a satisfyingly detailed screen.
Should you buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 is an epic vertical foldable smartphone that offers a cool factor that a standard smartphone simply can't match. At the entry point of Samsung's foldable range, this is a terrific smartphone to consider if you're keen on having a small phone that fits into tight places, like small pockets or bags, but still want a big screen that offers a lot of detail.
We'd recommend the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 to a lot of people, but in particular it's a good handset to keep in mind if you're after style and a bit of a personal touch.
All of that said, it's worth keeping Samsung's other foldables in mind, such as the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, particularly if you're sold on the foldable concept but want a larger, tablet-like screen.
