Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro review: are these the earbuds for you?

The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro signals a bold new direction for the company’s in-ear headphones, building on the success of the Buds3 Pro in 2024 and enhancing the features users already love. While most of the attention in the world of Samsung as of late has gone to the Samsung Galaxy S26 range of phones, we were also quite impressed with what the company had to offer in the audio department. It knocked our socks off – the metallic design sets the buds apart from other earbuds on the market, the case looks gorgeous and battery life remains dependable (1) .

I tried the buds out over several days and found a lot to love about them, having fallen in love with the Buds3 Pro back in 2024 and keen to see what the next generation had to offer. Let’s get stuck in.

Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro review: what’s to love about these headphones

The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro introduce a new ‘real metal blade’ design touch that includes gentle-feeling aluminium up the sides of the bud’s stalks. This design looks gorgeous in black and feels comfortable after extended periods of use.
I personally used the buds throughout one of my work days, and loved how seamlessly easy it was to use them, with side-mounted buttons on the stalk for controlling media (swipe your finger to turn volume up or down, click the stalk in to pause, and other handy controls that you can customise in the Settings app on Samsung Galaxy devices, or Galaxy Wearable app on other Android phones). I also enjoyed using the head gestures for accepting and rejecting calls (nod to accept, shake to decline).
Going from the Galaxy Buds3 Pro to the Buds4 Pro, I was immediately impressed with the bass quality. Music sounds deep and richer than with Samsung’s prior Pro buds, with the company electing to fit a new wider woofer with a 19.8% larger diaphragm.
Active noise cancellation remains dependable with Samsung’s latest buds too, with Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) 2.0 being introduced. While sound wasn’t completely blocked out, walking beside busy roads and riding the Sydney Metro were times the buds shined at suppressing noise. The mix of in-ear feeling and noise reduction was a well-struck balance – as was the inclusion of Ambient Sounds, allowing me to chat to people clearly without taking the Buds off.
Just keep in mind that some features of the buds only work when paired with a Samsung phone, such as Super wideband call support(2) and Ultra High Quality Audio(3). Additionally, Samsung notes that tweaking specific settings requires a smartphone running Android 12.0, with the buds only connecting to iPhone devices over Bluetooth.
Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro review: should you buy these buds?

I recommend the Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro to anybody craving high-quality sound, reliable noise cancellation and a nice metallic aesthetic from their earbuds. These in-ear headphones are unmistakably premium and should rank among the top choices when shopping around.
Alternatively, you could also consider the standard Samsung Galaxy Buds4 if you want a cheaper but slightly lower-spec pair of earbuds.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro are available now at Optus.
