Make the most of your home internet

Whether it’s for business, study or gaming, a better home internet connection can help make being at home a positive thing. Here’s a few ways to help you optimise your home online experience. 

With many of us working from home at least part of the time, there’s even more reason to ensure your home internet is up to the challenge. And let’s not forget there’s an awesome online world that’s now at your disposal - helping you build a personal bubble filled with frustration-free workdays and satisfying inside-style leisure activities. 

But, with more people online at any one time than ever before, the need to do to what you can to get the most of your devices has never been more prevalent.

Here’s a few tips that can help you make the most of your home internet that we recommend for all the time, not just in the middle of a global event.

Find the best spot for your modem. Make sure it’s got plenty of space around it and nothing’s blocking the signal - keep it positioned up high, out of the cupboard or out from behind the TV if you’re looking for the best results.

This is easier said than done – but the less devices connected to your WiFi, the better. Optus customers can use Optus Pause (at no extra cost) to find out how many devices are connected to their WiFi network as long as you have an eligible Optus modem*.

Connecting an Ethernet cable directly to your modem helps you get data to your device more consistently and cuts down the congestion on your WiFi network. Imagine what that would do for your gaming capability. Just as an aside – have a look at our predictions for Game of the Year.
