Keep connected and optimistic with g’day a day

Dial-in to feel connected with some daily positivity from Thorpie, Daniel Riccardo, Mac Horton and more.
There’s a reason the word “g’day” is so prolific. Synonymous with downunder’s warmth and sun, and known around the world as something uniquely Australian, saying it to someone immediately makes them feel comfortable, welcome and at home.
And the best part? No one’s too big and famous to use it. From Prime Ministers to primary school kids, everyone’s welcome to sling out as many of the salutations as they see fit.
That’s why we’ve been counting our lucky stars that we have the privilege of launching G’day a day – AKA #GdayADay - the campaign that delivers fresh and fun greetings from some of Australia’s most prominent people.
In an effort to encourage all Aussies to pick up the phone (or any other communication device) and call each other, we’re hoping to highlight the mental health benefits of just simply saying hi.
Who’s taking the call
We’ve got a great bunch of Aussies lined up for a natter. Calling daily via video, you can get a glimpse inside their lives and meet the real people behind their high profiles.
So far, we’ve seen chats from the likes of:
F1 star Daniel Riccardo
Arguably the fastest man in Australia, the Perth borne high-octane individual gives his good buddy Scotty James a bell. Scott’s an Olympic snowboarder and Red Bull teammate of Daniel’s.
Swim sensation Mac Horton
The Olympic medal magnet and Optus Ambassador swaps some banter from a rooftop with none other than star sport presenter, Mel McLaughlin.
The delicious duo – Kerrie McCallum and Phoebe Wood
Two of the team behind the Delicious Australia blog swap very tasty tidbits via FaceTime over Easter. What are they cooking that you could claim as your own?
Thorpie. No intro needed.
Vogue Australia’s Editor in Chief, Edwina McCann, caught up with the Aussie swim (and all round) legend for a chat around fitness and to meet the pooch.
Footballer Stephanie Catley
You’re never alone when you’re on a team like the Matildas, even when you’re apart. The Aussie Olympic football legend caught up with Mark Schwarzer for a bit of a chin wag.
Adelaide Crows legend Mark Ricciuto
The retired footy player catches up with fellow gifted footy gabberer Fitzy for a bit of banter around male pattern baldness and isolation.
With many more to come
But there’s plenty more in the pipeline – stay tuned to our social channels to see who could pop up next.
Stay connected for a sunny outlook
Keeping connected – especially in conditions that aren’t quite as sunny as usual – is important for so many reasons. A little virtual contact can close the gap on better mental health and an optimistic outlook and could even save a life.
