Meet Brendan – Optus Business Centre Gold Coast

It’s impossible not to be optimistic when you live in one of the most sun-drenched places in the world. The team at the Optus Business Centre are living proof of this. They have a truly sunny outlook, which is not surprising considering their stunning surrounds.
That’s why Brendan made the move to the Gold Coast to head up the local Optus Business Centre six years ago and hasn’t looked back!
Many make the move to the Gold Coast to immerse themselves in the lifestyle, which means that there are plenty of local businesses – most with owners who love the freedom to set their own pace and schedule. Brendan and the team at the Optus Business Centre, Gold Coast are there to support them and keep them connected.
“The team are more like a family than colleagues,” says Brendan. “They’ve all been hand-picked by me and are people I’ve been working with for years.”
Brendan also loves to keep it in the family. “My niece, who’s studying at uni, comes in one day a week to learn the business and learn things that will come in handing when it’s time for her to kick off her career.”
“We want to be a one-stop-shop for our customers,” says Brendan. “We don’t want them going to third parties for support. If our customers are experiencing a tech issue, we will be there to offer hands-on help to get the problems sorted and help our customer grow their businesses.”
And Brendan’s team don’t just talk the talk.
The Optus Business Centre Gold Coast team helped Orbitz Elevators, a local Gold Coast business, ensure the safety of their users by connecting Orbitz’s elevators to the internet of things. Now Orbitz elevators are fitted with Optus sims that enable emergency calls. Orbitz Elevators, which started in the back a van, now has 150 staff and has expanded operations to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Sunshine Coast as well as Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea.
Brendan has plans to make the shift from managed services to a more tech focussed model. And work with local business, Arcus wire, Australia’s largest stainless rope and wire strand supplier, has shown they’re on the right path. When Arcus’ automated call director wasn’t working properly, Brendan’s team conducted a comprehensive tech audit to work out what was going wrong with the flow. The team then analysed and optimised the system to prevent the system from dropping calls. Now Arcus’ customers are offered a seamless experience and get through to the Arcus team member who can best help them.
“We want to be go-to telco on the Gold Coast,” says Brendan.
With their unwavering commitment to their local business community, the future is bright for the Optus Business Centre and small businesses on the Gold Coast.
