Smart watches – what’s not to love?

Smart watches are now part of everyday life.  It’s hard to imagine life without them, right? Well, we think it’s time to stop and reflect on the amazing benefits of the wearable computer on many people’s wrists.

Like smartphones, smart watches use touchscreens yet are small enough to be worn on your wrist opening a whole world of opportunities.

Work connections

You’re in a meeting, it’s running over and the next one’s started. It’s rude to reach for your phone but you’ve got to let the people waiting know where you’re at. What do you do?

The answer is a quick touch of your wrist, a quick SMS. Sorted.

Sort your private life

You’re still in a meeting (another one) – there’s a ping and you still can’t reach for your phone. You touch your wrist, and you quickly see that something’s happened at school and you need to pick up your child. Or you’re waiting to hear when to meet a friend after work (they can’t make it) so a quick glance at the smart watch and you know you’ve got more time to finish up at work.

Pay for stuff

You don’t need to carry around cash in your wallet much anymore. There are lots of ways to pay with your smart watch these days. You can link your cards or bank accounts to your smart watch and pay with an elegant wave of your arm over the payment terminal.

Stay social

Easily check your social media on your smart watch, quickly and easily. And with so many organisations now posting updates on social, you’ll also stay connected to what’s going on in the world beyond your social life.

Navigation

Bushwalking or just finding your way around the city – the GPS capability of smart watches can save you valuable time.

Play Games

Yeah, it’s a small screen but there are now games designed for that modest digital real estate. You can’t compare it with your home gaming setup but if you’re stuck waiting for a train you can still take a break to game.

Run your smart home

No longer the stuff of science fiction. There are options to run your connected home right from your smart watch these days. You can turn on the appliances that make your life easier like your coffee machine, oven or washing machine – right from your wrist.

Find your phone

Lost your phone? No problems, your smart watch can help you locate it. Many smartwatches have a find phone feature that causes your phone to vibrate so you can find it.

Fitness unlimited

Like a fitness tracker, smartwatches help you with your health and fitness, plus some. You can monitor your heart rate, the distance you’ve walked plus you can compete with your friends as to who’s done more activity (if that’s your personality type).

Take photos

Did you know you can use your smart watch as a camera remote? Next time you’re arranging a group photo or a selfie, there’s no need to rush or stress just use your smart watch to control your phone’s camera. Easy.

Unwired for sound

Music is now so accessible – right on your smartphone. You can use your smart watch to control the music you listen to on your headphones right from your wrist. Connect to Bluetooth and you’re away.

Portable reminders

People’s lives are so busy. You can use your smart watch to help increase your productivity with reminders through the day – all visible by glancing at your wrist.

Tell the time

Yep, smart watches are well, smart but they’re also a watch. So, there’s lots of ways you can customise the way you tell the time. You can choose the appearance of your watch face and custom other elements like the date, image and fonts.
