Meet Chaz Mostert’s biggest fan

There are sports fans, and then there are Supercars fans. Earlier this season, Walkinshaw Andretti United (WAU), in partnership with Optus, put the call out to find Chaz Mostert’s biggest fan.

Supercars fan favourite Chaz selected the winner himself, Karmichael Fosteris (11) from Albion Park in Shellharbour.

Karmichael was selected from hundreds of outstanding nominations as he stated he admired Chaz for his stance on online safety, was his hero for his determination and grit on the track, and that he wanted to be the next Supercars star just like his idol.

“My young fella absolutely adores Chaz because of the campaigning he promotes on his social media and the respect he has for everyone. My son wants his go-kart kitted out to look like Mozzie’s Optus Mustang,” said Karmichael’s father Chris.

To celebrate his win, Karmichael received the surprise of a lifetime when Chaz visited him at the Wollongong Kart Raceway.

During the visit, Chaz spent an hour watching the up and coming go-karting star, offering tips and providing race advice – resulting in a lap PB.

Nicolas Gibson, Territory General Manager from Optus, presented him with a $2,500 cheque so he can deck out his go-kart to look like the Mobil 1 Optus racing rocket driven by Chaz himself.

“It’s incredible to see the passion and dedication Karmichael has for motorsport, and we’re delighted to play a part in his journey. We hope this experience inspires him to continue to chase his dreams,” said Nick.

Karmichael also received an exclusive invitation to attend the Sydney SuperNight on Saturday 20 July.  As a special guest of Optus, he was able to immerse himself in the excitement of the event as he watched on from the WAU garage and walked the grid pre-race.
