Why football is good for young families

There’s a reason it’s the World Game. We take a look at football, and how watching and playing it is good for your family.
Whether you call it football, soccer or the beautiful game, everyone’s in agreeance that it’s the most popular and most played sport on earth (sorry rugby). Easy to follow and usually non-contact, it’s the kid-friendly sport that will leave your child’s gorgeous infant brain intact (again, sorry rugby).
We could go on and on about football and how good it is, but we’ll spare you the essay and talk about a few of the positives both watching the game and playing it can have on your fam.
Here’s some selling points for youngsters:
Healthy habits
Any sport that kids play sets them up for a healthier future. Football builds stamina thanks to the combination running and kicking that’s required on the pitch. It also helps develop balance and coordination.
Social connection
As a team sport it’s a great way for kids to socialise and bond. Kids learn valuable communication skills on the field and builds problem solving skills that can empower kids and build their confidence and self-esteem.
It’s (mostly) a non-contact.
Alright, not counting the Zinedine Zidane headbutt fiasco in 2006, Football is pretty tame. In fact, you’re more likely to see post-match argy-bargy in the queue to the bathrooms than at the game itself. Which makes it a brilliant first sport for kiddies to watch and play. Good sportsmanship and no physical altercations are exactly the types of lessons we want to be teaching the future generation. As for their little young brains, football won’t muck around with them. Unlike other more hardcore contact sports, football is non-contact and rarely violent, so you can rest assured your offspring won’t be seriously harmed.
