Car racing games you should know about

From bumping karts to drift driving, car racing games are the type of games that anyone can play.
Whether you’re an experienced gamer or just playing for fun, these gameplays are almost easy enough that even the worst drivers will be able to handle the throttle. As long as you can hold a button and move the joystick at the same time, you already have the basics covered.
To help focus your attention on the racetrack, we have compiled some of the latest and best car racing games that have recently been released. So start your engines and get ready to race.
Originally released in 2008, Burnout Paradise quickly garnered rave reviews and left fans wanting more. In the remastered version released in 2021, the graphics have enhanced, the map has expanded, and vehicle handling has improved with stronger steer control and modifications.
Set in the fictional ‘Paradise City’ players need to compete in a variety of racetracks and battle it out in different driving styles to complete the mission.
Players can also race against other drivers from around the world online as well as play additional game modes such as “Cops and Robbers” and “Show time”.
Burnout Paradise Remastered is compatible with Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
It’s impossible to put together a car racing game list without including Need for Speed.
Need for Speed allowed cars to be customized, provided players with thrill seeking chases and created speed cards for performance upgrades.
The new gameplay now includes day and night transitions as well as new forms of racing styles such as Chase the Light, Drifting and Beat the Heat. More vehicles and parts have also been added to their current library to better modify the racing experience.
Players must compete in an organized racing event and avoid the rogue Palm City Police Department who have a plan of their own.
If you were looking for a car racing game to play with the kids, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is one that will suit all age groups (including teenagers).
This mascot kart racing game has got the thrill of every other driving game, only this time with characters that children of all ages will appreciate. The main cast of racers include members of the Sonic family as well as characters from Sega videogames. Players will also be able to choose legendary NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, make individual avatars and more.
In Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, player compete in animated racecourses and pick up weapons along the way to stop other racers from crossing the finishing line first. At certain points of driving - vehicles can also alternate between car, boat and plane modes
Split/ Second breaks the mould of typical car racing games. Instead of driving on circuits, players will need to win races in unsuspecting circumstances and on dangerous fields.
Set in a fictional reality show, drivers must compete in racing tournaments to earn money and fame - however the racecourse is not always what it seems.
To win, drivers must drift, draft and jump cars to avoid the collapsing track and reach the finishing line before everyone else. Players will earn points by showing off their driving skills and once enough points are collected, they will be able to sabotage the track to throw off other drivers.
Split/ Second can be played on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
Even though the latest version has not yet been released yet, Mario Kart of any edition deserves a shout out. It’s the game that everyone has played at least once and no matter your score or ranking – it almost always guarantees a fun time.
While there has been no confirmation as to when the newest game will be available, Mario Kart 9 is expected to be released at the end of this year with new racetracks, mini games and character expansion.
In the meantime, playing any other version of Mario Kart will do. Pick your driver, modify your car (don’t forget the glider) and choose a themed course to race and laugh your free time away.
Choose a seriously fast home internet connection that suits your game.
