A new era of AI-powered mobiles

Here at Optus, we’re very keen on technology that solves real business problems and makes life easier. So, the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Series has certainly caught our eye.
Artificial Intelligence has dominated the headlines in recent times and Samsung’s latest offering brings together a raft of really cool AI-powered tools in the one place - in each of the three new Galaxy S24 handsets, to be precise: the S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra.
So, what’s got us so excited?
In a first for a mobile phone manufacturer, Live Translate provides two-way, real-time voice and text translations of phone calls within the phone’s native app. On-device AI keeps conversations totally private.
With 13 languages available so far, all your execs will need to sound like a native, is their phone.
This won’t just make life easier for execs ringing customers or colleagues in foreign climes. Closer to home, think of workers on the frontline in health and emergency services who need to communicate with people whose first language is not English. There’s also call centre agents, retail workers… it will be a game-changer across many industries and roles.

And if you’re talking in person? Just as easy. Live conversations are instantly translated on a split-screen view so people standing opposite each other can read a text transcription of what the other person has just said.
It’s like the iconic Babel fish from Douglas Adam’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy has taken up residence in your phone, and it is seriously exciting. See what we’re talking about here.
Beyond Live Translate, the Galaxy S24 mobiles offer more smart AI features that will be a boon for business productivity and are designed to make the complex, simple.
Live voice transcription and text summarisation, both powered by Google, will make your business meetings more efficient. Simply use your phone to record your meeting and it will not only provide a summary of what was said – and by whom – but will even come up with a list of actions for participants. Check it out here.
Galaxy S24 mobiles also offer an AI “circle to search” feature where you can highlight a section of a photograph, e.g. an item for sale, which is then identified via a Google image search. You can even alter the contents of photos using Generative AI (watermarked so viewers know they have been changed).
While the devices’ specs alone are impressive, it’s the AI features that are really generating excitement with their potential to change the way you conduct business.
