The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is here with 3 models: S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra (and this one has a new addition!)
The S22 series really includes all the good stuff into three new Android phones. From its stunning camera lenses to its sleek design, and the return of a fan favourite feature (that lets you really express yourself) these three models pack a punch. So, without further ado, let’s have a closer look at Samsung’s 2022 Galaxy S series.
The S22 Ultra
The Galaxy S22 Ultra pulls out all the stops. Along with a stunning design – flattering camera housings in the back (4 lenses, like the S21), slick new colours (hello burgundy!) and smooth, wrapped finish in the front – you’ve got a built-in S-pen, the Qualcomm flagship processor of 2022, some special new features on the camera…and that’s just the start.
For the creator on the go, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is capable of super-fast charging at 45W (though the charger and cable are sold separately). With a long-lasting battery and a fast charging capability, you’ll only rarely need to be waiting on your phone to charge, so will be able to capture everything in the moment without worry of your battery dying on you at just the wrong time.
The camera steps up from the Galaxy S21 family most notably with the software enhancements and the way the digital camera processes images after you take them. You’ve still got an incredible suite of cameras – 108MP wide lens, 2 10MP telephoto, a 12MP ultra-wide and then a 40MP front facing camera for great selfies – and now with the Galaxy S22 family you can create stunning images at night, too, with a new frame rate and Portrait Mode at night – though we’ll talk more in detail about nightography in another article (click through to read more about different camera lenses and what they mean).
The embedded S Pen is a first for the S series phones from Samsung (at the time of writing, the S Pen is only compatible with the S22 Ultra and can’t be used on the S22 or S22+), and means that a lot of things got a whole lot easier…and make it even less likely you’ll need anything but your phone when you’re on the go. For example did you know you can use your S Pen like a remote trigger for your phone camera? The S Pen has so many quietly useful functions, you’ll forget what it’s like to have a phone without it after a while with the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The S22+
With a streamlined design and an elegant finish, the Galaxy S22+ is a video editing powerhouse, perfect for the creator on the go. With Gorilla Glass Victus+ and Armour Aluminium, the S22 series is built to be on the go. For those who prefer the great outdoors, the Galaxy S22+ (and the S22 series as a whole) have an intelligent display that manages the brightness of your screen so even when you’re in full sun, you’ll be able to see your Galaxy S22 phone screen clearly and see the details in vivid colour.
The Galaxy S22+ display is 6.6in – only slightly smaller than the S22 Ultra, with many of the same features, including the 4nm powerhouse of a processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Snapdragon , which is what works so hard in the phone for a lot of the new features around nightography in particular. The processor is what also helps the phone make the battery work that much more efficiently so when you’ll next need to charge your phone isn’t always in the back of your mind as you go about your day.

The S22
Left: S22 in Pink Gold, right: S22 Plus in Green
This pocket phone packs a punch – coming in at slightly smaller than the Galaxy S21 series at 6.1 inches display (the Galaxy S21 was 6.2in ), so it’s perfect for those that prefer a smaller phone that can still take spectacular photos – I mean, a 50MP main camera lens is nothing to sneeze at – and of course all the nightography enhancements come through this phone as well, so you should never be left in the dark when trying to snap that perfect picture at night.
