With a price difference of a couple hundred dollars, you can expect a few key differences between the A35 5G and A55 5G. Check out an in-depth comparison between the two phones below, including both their similarities and differences.

The most notable differences between the two phones are their cameras, processor, and physical frame. The camera and processor differences especially affect the performance level of the two phones, with the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G supporting more advanced mobile needs with its AI photo processing feature.

Between the four total cameras on the Galaxy A Series phones, the A55 5G has an improved UltraWide and Front (also known as selfie) camera than the A35 5G. Compared to the 8MP UltraWide and 13MP Front cameras in the A35 5G, the A55 5G’s cameras are 12MP and 32MP respectively, thus producing clearer and better quality photos.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G also has a dual recording feature which the A35 5G doesn’t have. This feature is especially useful for content creators or influencers who may need to record from both their front and rear cameras. Both phones can record in Super HDR, although the Galaxy A55 5G has an additional AI feature that enhances photos post-processing.

Galaxy A35 5G vs. Galaxy A55 5G: Processor

Another key difference between the A35 5G and A55 5G is the processor. The A55 5G uses the Exynos 1480 which is a generation up from the Exynos 1380 in the A35 5G. With a higher GPU frequency, improved efficiency in battery consumption, and better support for mobile gaming, the Exnynos 1480 is a clear upgrade from the Exynos 1380.

It’s performance improvements also mean it can support additional AI software in the Galaxy A55 5G. Although no slouch itself, the older Exynos 1380 processor means a noticeable performance difference between the Samsung Galaxy A35 vs A55.

Galaxy A35 5G vs. Galaxy A55 5G: Design

The biggest design difference between the A35 5G and A55 5G is the frame. The Galaxy A55 5G proudly sports an aluminium metal frame with an easy and intuitive grip, as well as a Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus®+ back. This makes the A55 5G slightly tougher and more damage resistant than the A35 5G.

When purchasing with Optus, the Galaxy A35 5G is available in Awesome Navy while the Galaxy A55 5G is available in Awesome Navy and Awesome Lilac.

Samsung Galaxy A54 5G vs. Galaxy A55 5G: Is it worth upgrading?

  • Display:  Full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O Display, 120Hz refresh rate
  • Size: 6.4 inches
  • Dimensions: 158.2 x 76.7 x 8.2mm
  • Cameras: 50MP (Wide), 12MP (UltraWide), 5MP (Macro), 32MP (Front)
  • Processor: Exynos 1380
  • Battery: 5,000mAh (Typical)1
  • SIM type: Physical SIM + eSIM
  • Frame: Plastic

  • Frame: Aluminium

In the above Samsung Galaxy A54 vs A55 comparison, you’ll note that the A55 5G is slightly bigger than the A54 5G with an upgraded processor in the Exyos 1480 and an aluminium frame (over the A54 5G’s plastic). The A55 5G also includes an advanced AI image signal processing feature which automatically enhances photos. At the base storage model, the A55 5G has 8GB RAM while the A54 5G has 6GB RAM.

Other than these slight differences, the A54 5G and A55 5G are largely similar, with the exact same camera set-up, 5,000mAh battery life1  and display technology. You may consider upgrading to the A55 5G if you’re interested in improved overall performance and the AI photo-processing feature.
