The Optus won two awards: “Innovation – Large Company” for Living Network and the “Contribution to Society” for Digital Thumbprint Program at the recent ACOMM Awards 2023.
Now in its 17th year, the annual ACOMM Awards for excellence in telecommunications, presented by Communications Alliance, celebrates innovation in Australia’s communications ecosystem.
Optus was nominated for three ACOMM Awards, which recognises achievement across 13 categories, including innovation, customer service, community initiatives, and diversity and inclusion. The 2023 ACOMM winners were announced at a gala dinner on 27 July, attended by the Federal Minister for Communications, The Hon. Michelle Rowland MP, and the Shadow Minister for Communications, The Hon. David Coleman MP.
Optus won the ‘Innovation – Large Company’ award for the Living Network (Network Pulse, Turbocharge and Pause). The Living Network, introduced in May 2021, is a collection of on-demand innovative network features designed to empower our customers to transform their daily connected experience within My Optus app.
Network Pulse provides customers with visibility of their real-time Optus mobile network or WiFi connection experience from the device they are using – from what’s happening on the Optus mobile towers near them to the status of their individual Optus mobile, home or public WiFi connections using interactive maps.
Optus Turbocharge gives our customers the power to take control and turbocharge at home with Internet Turbocharge, or on the go with Mobile Turbocharge. For $5, customers can turbocharge their internet speed for 24 hours at a time, so they enjoy the very best of the Optus network.
Optus Pause, an Australian-first innovation, puts customers in control of their Mobile and Home connectivity by temporarily pausing mobile and home connectivity across their devices so they can make the most of moments that matter.
Optus also received the ‘Contribution to Society’ award for the Optus Digital Thumbprint program, which supports digital safety and well-being with educational workshops, guides, and resources for young people and families. The free, curriculum-aligned workshops provide tools for positive and responsible online participation, focusing on Cyber Security, Digital Identity, Cyberbullying and Respectful Relationships Online, Digital Discernment, and Digital Balance.
Now in its tenth year, Optus has increased investment to $1.25 million to expand the Digital Thumbprint program in 2023, providing more opportunities for students in regional Australian communities to achieve their full potential.
Optus, along with Telstra, TPG Telecom, and Aussie Broadband, was recognised on the night with a special ‘Contribution to Society’ award for collective and voluntary financial contributions to support financial counselling services for some of society’s most vulnerable people. Earlier this year, a group of organisations from across the banking, finance, insurance, energy, telecommunications, and online gambling sectors donated $7.75 million to the Financial Counselling Foundation. This donation will help the Foundation deliver a series of important initiatives to support victims of family violence, those at risk of homelessness, and First Nations communities.
The Optus Living Network puts you in control so you can do so much more than talk with a range of helpful tools in My Optus app.
