We’re building our coverage in north-west Tasmania

We’re upgrading our coverage of Tasmania’s North West Coast to help part of the island feel better connected.

Tasmania - known for its stunning national parks, rich marine life and World Heritage sites. – and now, improved coverage and more choice for some of the residents of the Apple Isle.

We’ve set our sights on Tasmania’s North West coast (we couldn’t keep our eyes off it) and it’s only good news for residents in East Devonport and Acacia Hills.

After switching on two new towers in the region, we’re giving people (including you hopefully) improvements in coverage, more choice for mobile services, and reliable voice and data access. The new towers come with dedicated 4G coverage and capacity, and form part of Optus’ $3.4 million network investment over the rest of the financial year.

This is great news for locals and Tasmanian tourists who can enjoy staying connected while exploring some of the natural wonders Tassie has to offer.

We’re investing millions into Tassie

$2.55 million went into improving our network in the last 12 months, building 4 new sites for towers in the process. Maintaining a strong network is crucial in times of uncertainty. The new site in East Devonport provides mobile coverage for those located East of the city and enhances coverage along parts of Bass Highway. As well as this, our new site in Acacia Hills allows residents to have expanded coverage and capacity along Melrose and Sheffield Roads, contributing to our improving mobile network in the area.

More than empowering people with choice and connectivity, we’re planning a new retail store in Devonport which will provide jobs to locals It will be our first ever retail store in the North West of the state and located in the Rooke Street Mall.
