Looking to feel a little healthier? Check out these fab apps that’ll help you get back on track.
We’re here to tell you that you are absolutely perfect the way you are. But if you’d like to get back on track after the summer holidays then that’s totally fine too. We’ve rounded up a few of the best apps that’ll help you keep feeling your best self. Because hey, if we could all live on a diet of cookies and burgers, we would.
Need some running apps to go with your healthy eating? Check them out here.
YouAte
Instead of scribbling down calories ferociously after every meal into a tiny journal, YouAte allows you to simply take a picture of your plate. So, instead of stressing about every minuscule bite you shovel into your mouth you can focus on how certain foods make you feel and create non-weight related goals. And if you’re prone to having two or three cheeky snacks during the day, it records the time taken between meals, which is helpful if you need to build out a regular eating routine.
Waterlogged
Nutrition isn’t just about what or how much you’ve eaten. It’s also how much water you drink in a day and whether you’re drinking enough. Waterlogged is an app for those who often forget to drink water during the day and absolutely need to be reminded. You can set when to sip and adjust your schedule if you’re working out or if you know, you live in Australia and it’s damn hot.
Rise Up
We recommend this app for anyone who’d like to build a healthier relationship with food. So, it’s not really about logging what you’re eating but how you’re feeling around mealtime. It’ll help you better understand and even identify trends and behaviours around eating times. You can then log notes and export PDFs to share with your healthcare provider.
Harvest
Ever wandered around the fruit and veg aisle, picking up and putting down produce to determine whether it was ‘in season’ or not? Don’t lie to us, we’ve all done it. With Harvest, this kind of grocery loitering can be a thing of the past. Based on where you live, Harvest will tell you exactly what’s in season and half your shopping time. It is particularly useful if you’re giving this mostly plant-based diet thing a real go.
Noom
This goes last on our list and we’ll tell you why. Noom is a diet app. It is designed to help people stay accountable and lose weight. This may be beneficial for certain people but not all, so for those who have been advised by healthcare professionals to lose weight this app is for you. The app uses traffic light colours to help you understand whether you’ve been eating healthy or not. Red is for sometimes foods like chocolate. Yellow is meat and dairy and green is for fruit and veg. But you actually have to use it religiously for it to work. This means recording all your meals, all your snack and your weight at the beginning of each week. As we said this app isn’t for everyone so it’s important to check with your doctor before downloading.
There are a few apps that’ll help smooth your way back into healthier eating habits. But like we said, you’re perfect the way you are. So, you do you, hashtag live your life, live, laugh, love and remember, being thin is fine, but cookies are forever.
