21 February 2024, 10:00 PM

Optus Sport has been recognised for their coverage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023TM by being awarded Best Coverage of a Sporting Event at this year’s Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Media Awards.

In a highly competitive field, Optus Sport’s coverage of the Women’s World Cup as the official broadcaster in Australia was recognised at a star-studded event, held at the MCG on Wednesday, February 21.

The ASC Media Awards are the only dedicated sports media awards in Australia. They have been running for more than 21 years and recognise excellence in Australia sports journalism, broadcasting, production, and photography.

The award is recognition of the level of coverage Optus Sport delivered for the biggest showpiece in women’s sport.

Clive Dickens, VP, TV, Content & Product Development, said: “We are delighted to receive this award – we’d like to thank the Australian Sports Commission for this recognition.

“At Optus Sport, we are champions of women’s football, so to bring the Women’s World Cup to our customers was an honour.

“We had a unique privilege and responsibility to showcase what the tournament was all about – celebrating amazing football, the diversity of the athletes and fans, and the incredible stories that only a World Cup on home soil could provide.

“We wanted to ensure that all customers were able to enjoy our coverage, which included a world-class hosting lineup and best-in-class production team to elevate the viewing experience for all Optus customers.

“We are thrilled to be recipients of this award.”

Some highlights of Optus Sport’s coverage include:
