Super Retail Group strengthens supply chain with Optus 5G

• Super Retail Group partners with Optus to deploy enterprise-grade 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA)
• The connectivity solution increases operational efficiency and resilience in distribution centres to improve end-customer outcomes.

One of Australia and New Zealand’s largest retailers, Super Retail Group, has partnered with Optus to deploy enterprise-grade 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) at its distribution centre in Queensland following a successful trial.

The connectivity solution, powered by Optus5G and Cradlepoint, will increase operational efficiency and provide seamless backup for distribution facilities at Super Retail Group, which owns several major retail brands, including Supercheap Auto, Rebel, BCF and Macpac.

Stuart Pritchard, Vice President of Enterprise and Government at Optus at Optus, said, “Super Retail Group needed a reliable network back-up solution at its distribution facility to deliver the seamless support and backup it required. Optus’ 5G FWA solution provides high-speed internet access to protect the up time of critical infrastructure and, in this case, SRG’s ability to stay connected when it matters most. This is fantastic news for the customers of SRG, since efficient and resilient networks are essential to ensuring timely, reliable order fulfillment.”

FWA is a type of wireless communication technology that provides high-speed internet access and broadband in areas where traditional wired connections may be difficult or expensive to install, such as in rural or remote regions.

Ray Birt, General Manager Cyber, Networks, Infrastructure and Service Management at Super Retail Group, said, “Reliable and resilient connectivity options are paramount to ensuring smooth operations and to protect the up time of critical infrastructure that underpins our distribution centre operations. We were delighted with the high-speed and reliability of the enterprise-grade FWA connectivity provided by Optus.”

Nathan McGregor, Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific at Cradlepoint said, “Enterprise-grade FWA leveraging 5G delivers the speeds of wired networks, but with the agility and resilience that enables enterprises to be more competitive. Optus and Cradlepoint have worked together to deliver this solution for the iconic Super Retail Group business and FWA will enable enterprises in Australia to have agile connectivity options that will simplify digital transformation and support innovation.”

Optus has bundled software-defined 5G FWA with enterprise-grade hardware, so that even the businesses can improve their operations and outcomes for their end-customers.
