Optus strengthens coverage in Rosewood

16 June 2023

·       Optus switches on tower in Rosewood to enhance mobile coverage to 171 local premises

Optus has switched on a new tower in the Riverina community in southern New South Wales as part of the Australian Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program.

The macrocell site will provide enhanced mobile coverage to 171 premises in the local Rosewood area to over 97.51 sq kms covered, including new coverage to 76.4km of local roads such as Tumbarumba Road and Broadleaf Park Road.

Matt Connell, Optus North Victoria Territory General Manager is pleased to be providing the local community with greater mobile competition and choice.

“We’re thrilled to offer Riverina customers much-needed access to our service, as we know how important coverage is for residents, businesses and visitors across regional Australia,” said Matt Connell.

“In addition to the economic and social benefits this site will provide, visitors to Rosewood's annual calendar events such as the Tractor Pull Truck and Car Show and the Country Roundup Music Festival will welcome the improved mobile connectivity, allowing them to communicate with family and friends around the country,” Mr Connell added.

The investment in expanding Optus’ telecommunications infrastructure and mobile coverage is also supported by the Australian Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program.

ABOUT THE MOBILE BLACK SPOT PROGRAM

The Government has committed $380 million to the Mobile Black Spot Program (the Program) to invest in telecommunications infrastructure to improve mobile coverage and competition across Australia.

The Program is supported by co-contributions from state and local governments, mobile network operators, businesses, and local communities.
