Optus strengthens coverage in Monkey Mia

Optus has delivered much needed coverage and connectivity in regional Western Australia by switching on a new mobile tower in the Monkey Mia area.

The new tower, located along the Wulyibidi Yaninyina Walking Trail, provides Optus customers with greater communication while living, working in, and traveling to Monkey Mia, including more than 100,000 tourists that visit the Monkey Mia region each year.

The tower will provide dedicated capacity and bandwidth to the peninsula, strengthen Optus’ services to the region and provide coverage to residents, businesses and visitors in the area including the RAC Resort.

Optus Territory General Manager for Western Australia, Paul O’Neill, is excited to be switching on the Monkey Mia mobile tower and providing customers with competition and choice.

The investment by Optus into regional areas has transformed what was once an unreliable area for connectivity, to an area that can now stay connected or get back online rapidly in times of natural disaster. Optus’ crucial investment into this region demonstrates exactly why competition and choice for customers remains essential.

The Monkey Mia tower will add to the existing coverage in the area with the Denham tower servicing the other side of the peninsula. Optus continues to invest to improve coverage, reliability and speed across its Australian mobile network, with this new tower providing a competitive telecommunications alternative for residents and businesses.
