Optus Wholesale brings home silverware from MVNO World Congress

15 June 2022

Optus Wholesale named Host Operator of the Year at the 2022 MVNO Awards held at MVNO World Congress

Optus Wholesale has been crowned as the ‘Host Operator of the Year’ at the 2022 MVNO* Awards, which took place in Berlin, Germany, during the MVNO World Congress. The awards recognise the achievements and innovations in the global MVNO industry over the past 12 months.

Optus Wholesale has provided consistent support to MVNOs in Australia dating back over 25 years, longer than any other Australian telecommunications organisation, and has a longstanding commitment to providing full access to the Optus Network. In 2021, Optus Wholesale secured two new MVNOs, Macquarie Telecom and Aussie Broadband, when they chose to make the shift from a competitor to Optus Wholesale for long term MVNO agreements.

Optus Managing Director of Wholesale, Satellite and Strategy, Ben White, said, “Optus Wholesale is thrilled to be recognised on the international stage as the world’s best Host Operator during this year’s MVNO Awards in Berlin. It’s a credit to the great team we have at Optus and our wholesale strategy, which has always been about true partnership with our MVNO customers.

“Optus Wholesale prides itself on the quality of service we provide our partners, and the innovation we bring to the MVNO market in Australia.”

In 2020, Optus Wholesale led the MVNO market with the launch of 5G plans to our partners across both the post-paid handset and fixed wireless access market segments.

Optus has invested over $9 billion since 2015 to improve our network reach, capacity and quality with the Optus 4G network, which is available to more than 98% of the Australian population.

Optus continues to be at the forefront of the rollout of 5G, having delivered a true 5G experience across more than 1500 sites covering 1.2 million Australian households, and ensuring it is also available to MVNOs.
