Optus teams with EA Sports™ FIFA 22 and Google Pixel 6 Pro for Ultimate Brisbane Gaming Bootcamp

28 October 2021

  •     Optus Queen Street Brisbane store transforms into ultimate EA SPORTS™ FIFA 22™ training facility experience on Optus 5G Max
  •     Player registrations open now for two weekends of EA SPORTS™ FIFA 22 family gaming fun
  •     Tips and tricks from some of Australia’s best FIFA e-gamers

It’s game on at Optus Queen Street for the next two weeks as the ultimate Optus 5G Max Gaming Bootcamp begins - pitting player against player and pushing mmWave technology to the Max.

Starting Saturday, 30th October and running across next weekend, the Optus Queen Street store will be transformed into a free training ground for anyone keen to up their gaming skills. Equipped with 10 Playstation®5 consoles loaded with the brand-new EA SPORTS™ FIFA 22, the Optus 5G Max Gaming Bootcamp offers 20 avid and ‘wannabe’ gamers at a time the chance to learn some tips from the pros with players from professional e-sports teams on hand to teach some tricks on how to be a better, more consistent player onscreen. Players will also have a chance to test out the new Google Pixel 6 Pro, the fastest and smartest Pixel yet.

“Every milli-second counts for online gamers which is why hosting this bootcamp on Optus 5G Max makes perfect sense. EA SPORTS™ FIFA 22 is built for fast paced entertainment and Optus 5G Max provides the optimal ecosystem for gaming with blisteringly fast speeds and huge bandwidth creating the perfect environment for smooth gameplay,” said Matt Williams, Optus Managing Director Marketing and Revenue.

“The low latency of Optus 5G Max could mean the difference between making that last second goal saving slide tackle or reaching the back of the net in the final seconds, while your opponent watches on in awe. For Optus it’s really about connecting customers with technology that improves their lives.”

According to Mr Williams, participants don’t have to be a keen gamer to take part, with the bootcamp open to everyone no matter their level of gaming experience.

“We’d love to see families testing their new skills against each other to see just who the ultimate gamer is in their household. We can’t wait for people to experience Optus 5G Max first-hand and see for themselves just how much of a gamechanger this faster than fast 5G is going to be for the gaming industry.”

This e-gaming training event provides participants with an opportunity to flex their football skills. Registrations to take part in the Optus 5G Max Gaming Bootcamp are open here.

Each gaming session will run over 45 minutes with players picking up tips from the pros on defence tactics, player formation and how to score that killer goal! To kick-off their session, participants will test out the incredible capacity and low latency of Optus 5G Max, on the brand-new Google Pixel 6 Pro smartphone. Following their training with the pros players will be able to put their new skills to the test as they take on other players in the gaming console training zone. All devices will be supplied on the day.

The Optus Queen St Store has been equipped with this cutting edge 5G technology, integrated with partner Nokia, since July this year.

Optus 5G Max is starting to rollout in selected areas in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
