Optus appoints new Territory General Manager in Wide Bay

Optus has appointed a new Territory General Manager in Wide Bay, strengthening its commitment to the region.

Mungo O’Brien started in the newly created position this month and will be based in the Wide Bay region providing him with greater visibility into the requirements of customers and businesses across the area.

“With our ongoing and significant investment in regional Australia it is important that we have a strong team in place to support and respond to opportunities as they arise. It was also important to us that this role was filled by someone living locally, who understands the needs of the region, said Marcus Grimes, Optus Head of Regional.

“The appointment of Mungo further strengthens our regional management team and I am confident of his ability to help grow our business in this key area for Optus.”

In his new role Mungo will oversee Optus’ day to day operations across the Wide Bay area, including oversight into the stores across the region.

Speaking about joining the team Mungo O’Brien, Optus Territory General Manager Wide Bay said, “To lead Optus in such a key regional market is an exciting opportunity. My immediate priority will be to understand from our customers what our greatest challenges and opportunities are and I’m looking forward to working with the local team here to build on the successes achieved in Wide Bay to date.”

The Optus mobile network handles over 31 million calls and 80 million SMS messages each day and carries 16,128 terabytes of data each week. Optus is continuing to expand and strengthen its network to deliver improved data and voice services across metropolitan, regional and remote locations nationally.
