The Melbourne Stars and Optus join forces for another epic partnership

The Melbourne Stars has re-signed Optus as the Club’s Principal and Co-Major Partner, encompassing both the BBL and WBBL teams until the end of BBL|10 and WBBL|06.

The partnership already has a rich history, starting unconventionally in the middle of the BBL|05 season after the Melbourne Stars’ incumbent Principal Partner went into administration, with the deal famously getting done within 48 hours.

Reflecting on the achievements of the partnership, Melbourne Stars CEO Clint Cooper said, “We’ve known from the very beginning that this partnership was going to be something special. We were half way through the season, coming off the high of a home Derby win in front of 80,000 fans at the MCG when we found out we were going to need a new Principal Partner.

“To achieve such a seamless transition - rebranding all of our uniforms and stadium signage, roll out match activations and digital content, all before our next home match just days later – required enormous commitment and cooperation between the two organisations, but above all; trust. We did it. I think that sums up this partnership and we’re excited to see what we can achieve with three more years under our belt,” said Cooper.

The Melbourne Stars and Optus have built a partnership on common values and a shared commitment to innovation, joining forces to raise funds toward animal conservation projects and working together to innovate fan engagement especially in the digital space.
