Optus Wholesale has today announced that nbnTM Fibre-to-the-Curb (FTTC) technology will now be available to its Residential Broadband over NBN (RBBoNBN) customers.
This follows the recent nbnTM launch of the technology to approximately 1,000 premises in and around Coburg, Victoria and Miranda, New South Wales.
NBN co estimates the FTTC footprint will reach 1 million premises.
Vice President, Sales and Marketing of Optus Wholesale John Castro said, “It is vital that Optus Wholesale offers a mix of solutions like nbnTM FTTC that meet the unique needs of Australian homes and businesses. It allows our wholesale customers to stay competitive in the market with the latest nbnTM technologies available.
“We’ve already seen positive uptake on our range of nbnTM enabled products and we’re excited to be one of the first wholesalers in market to deliver FTTC services.
“This demonstrates our ability to rapidly enable technologies and make them available to our wholesale customers, who in turn can provide services to their customers,” said Mr Castro.
The nbnTM FTTC network has been designed to deliver access to speeds of up to 100/40Mbps, utilising VDSL infrastructure in close proximity to end user premises. The network has the further potential to offer even higher speeds via new copper acceleration technology G.fast, which nbnTM plans to launch in selected areas before the year’s end.
In addition to this new access technology, Optus Wholesale’s RBBoNBN product is already enabled for all nbnTM fixed line access technologies (FTTP, FTTB, FTTN, HFC and Fixed Wireless).
Optus Wholesale has also been offering Business Grade Ethernet over NBN (EoNBN) services utilising NBN TC-2 and TC-4 since December 2016. Ethernet over NBN (EoNBN) access is enabled on Optus Wholesale’s Evolve suite of enterprise products: Evolve EWAN, Evolve Internet, Evolve IPVPN and Evolve Voice – available on (FTTP, FTTB and FTTN).
