OPTUS COMMITS MORE THAN $3.5 MILLION TO IMPROVE MOBILE COVERAGE IN THE CENTRAL MURRAY REGION
07 November 2017, 09:01 AM
Optus has today announced a $3.7 million commitment to further improve its 4G Plus mobile network in the Central Murray region.
Optus’ State Manager for New South Wales, Dylan Harrad-Chantler said “Optus will build a number of new sites to improve network coverage and experience for residents, businesses and visitors to the region.”
“We are seeing a growing demand for mobile services, which is why Optus is continuously investing to improve mobile coverage across Australia.
“Once work is completed, customers will benefit from fewer call drop outs, better indoor and outdoor coverage and smoother streaming to mobile devices.
“Planning has started to build four new sites in Blighty, Corowa West, Willowvale and Yarrawonga South in the next 12 to 18 months.
“We have also recently built and activated three new sites in Moama, Howlong and Yarrawonga East, which are already providing improved mobile coverage for residents, businesses and visitors. In addition, we have expanded and upgraded our 4G network in Mallan and Wakool,” Mr Harrad-Chantler said.
In the past 12 months Optus has upgraded two sites at Mallan and Wakool.
Today’s announcement forms part of Optus’ $1 billion commitment to improve mobile services where people live, work and travel.
The Optus network handles over 45 million calls and 80 million SMS messages each day and carries 6,000 terabytes of data each week. Optus is continuing to expand and strengthen its network to deliver improved data and voice services across metropolitan, regional and remote locations nationally.
