Optus has today announced a $3.5 million commitment to further improve its 4G mobile network in the Grampians region.
Optus’ State Manager for Victoria, Peter Kirk said “Optus is committed to improving mobile coverage for consumers and businesses in the Grampians, as well as commuters and tourists travelling along the popular Henty and Western Highways.
“We are seeing a growing demand for mobile services, which is why Optus is continuously investing to improve mobile coverage across Australia.
“This investment aims to deliver improved indoor and outdoor coverage, faster data download and upload speeds and fewer call drop outs.
“Planning has started to build three new sites, at Horsham CBD, Horsham West and Deep Lead Road in the next 12 to 18 months.
“During the last year, we built three new sites in Longerenong, Willaura and at Moyston, which are already providing improved mobile coverage for residents, businesses and visitors. In addition, we expanded and upgraded our 4G network in Nhill, Natimuk, Jeparit and Speed,” Mr Kirk said.
Today’s announcement forms part of Optus’ $1 billion commitment to improve mobile services where people live, work and travel.
The Optus network handles over 45 million calls and 80 million SMS messages each day and carries 6,000 terabytes of data each week. Optus is continuing to expand and strengthen its network to deliver improved data and voice services across metropolitan, regional and remote locations nationally.
