Optus announced today the appointment of Stuart Bird as Managing Director, Wholesale and Satellite.
Mr Bird will be responsible for leading all parts of Optus’ Wholesale and Satellite division including sales, marketing, products, operations, and service delivery, and will articulate Optus’ vision to its wholesale partners and satellite customers.
Today’s announcement follows the recent retirement of Robert Parcell at the end of April.

With his strong track record in sales and revenue growth, and a deep knowledge of fixed and mobile products, Stuart is well placed to cement Optus’ position as Australia’s market leader in both wholesale and satellite services.”

His focus will be to deliver growth from our Wholesale and Satellite businesses by expanding Optus’ wholesale nbn offering, delivering a competitive suite of mobile products and services for our wholesale partners, and expanding our satellite customer base across Australasia,” Mr Lew said.
Mr Bird is an accomplished senior executive with more than ten years’ experience in the telecommunications sector. He has held senior positions at Telstra and Vodafone. Mr Bird joins Optus from Telstra, where he most recently held the position of Executive Director of Home and Business Products for Telstra Retail.

Mr Bird will be a member of Optus’ Executive Leadership team and will report directly to Optus’ Chief Executive Officer, Allen Lew. Nitesh Naidoo will act as Managing Director for the Wholesale and Satellite division until Mr Bird formally joins the team.
