Optus has announced a $4 million commitment to improve 4G mobile coverage in Mildura and the surrounding Sunraysia region.
In plans announced today, Optus will spend $4 million in the next two years to build new sites in Mildura’s north, Nichols Point, Mildura Airport, Karadoc, Cardross, Gol Gol, Buronga and Dareton.
Optus Network Manager, Vin Mullins said, “We understand the need for better mobile coverage for people living, working, and visiting Mildura.
“The new sites will increase Optus’ 4G coverage in the Sunraysia region and will deliver improved call quality and faster download speeds for local mobile customers. Additional sites are also planned along the Sturt Highway between Balranald and Hay to extend Optus’ Sturt Highway coverage.”
“Whether it’s helping small businesses or tourists stay connected, Optus recognises the importance of reliable mobile coverage to the local economy,” Mr Mullins said.
Today’s announcement follows the completion last year, of construction of a new mobile site near Mildura Central shopping centre. The site has expanded Optus’ 4G data coverage, increased download speeds and improved mobile call quality for southern parts of Mildura.
Mildura is one of hundreds of regional areas enjoying the benefits of Optus’ superfast 4G Plus network, which now reaches 95.9% of Australians.
