Optus today announced a $4.5 million commitment to improve 4G mobile coverage across the Tweed Valley and Coolangatta.
Local Optus Tweed Heads Franchisee John Welch said this investment will improve network coverage and customer experience across the region for residents, businesses and visitors.
“Optus is committed to improving mobile coverage and providing faster internet download speeds for people living, working, and visiting the Tweed Valley and Coolangatta,” Mr Welch said.
Optus recently upgraded 12 sites at Elanora, Coolangatta, Kingscliff, Murwillumbah, Currumbin, Palm Beach, Springbrook, Burringbar, Pottsville, Sleepy Hollow, Chinderah and Coolangatta Airport.
“More than six million people travel through the Coolangatta Airport each year and this upgrade will ensure they stay connected with family and friends while on holidays or travelling for work.
“It will also improve coverage along the M1 Pacific Motorway and the Gold Coast Highway which is great news for motorists.”
Optus has earmarked $3.5 million to build eight new sites at Bilambil Heights, Banora Point East, Chinderah Bay, Banora Point, Casuarina, Cobaki Lakes, Pottsville Beach and Murwillumbah West. Optus will work with the local community to identify the best location for these new mobile sites.
Optus also officially opened its latest Tweed Heads store which has more than 100 square metres of retail space and has created four new local jobs.
“The new store is much larger, includes new digital technology to simplify transactions, improve customer experience and help small businesses.
“Our new store is much larger to meet the demands of customers. It features the latest design elements and new digital technology to help our customers complete their transactions faster.
“Employing local staff is important and we are excited to be welcoming four new local staff to our team,” Mr Welch said.
The Tweed Valley and Coolangatta is one of hundreds of regional areas enjoying the benefits of Optus’ superfast 4G Plus network, which now reaches 95.9% of Australians.
