OPTUS CUSTOMERS TO GET ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE FROM $15 PER MONTH ON SELECTED PLANS

Optus today unveiled pricing for the 2016/17 season of the English Premier League (EPL). New and existing customers who want to watch every round of the next EPL season can choose from a range of great value postpaid mobile, mobile broadband, and home broadband bundles, and then add EPL from as little as $15 extra per month. For eligible plans valued at $85 per month and above, EPL will be included at no extra cost.

EPL, Any Way You Like It

Exclusive live access to every match of the world’s greatest football competition is just the beginning. We’re giving fans flexibility and choice around their EPL experience with Optus including:

• Every match live: Australia’s first 24/7 EPL channel boasts up to nine sub-channels, so viewers never miss a minute of the action on match day, no matter how many teams are playing.
• Dedicated EPL channel: Devoted exclusively to the English Premier League, Optus’ 24/7 EPL channel will carry all 380 live matches of the 2016/17 season, as well as the most comprehensive EPL news and analysis ever offered in Australia with shows like Match of the Week, News, Fanzone and Match Day Live.
• Un-metered EPL: Streaming EPL over the Optus mobile and fixed network will be data free on eligible plans. This means customers accessing the content from an eligible plan will be able to stream as much EPL content as they want, without using their mobile, mobile broadband or home broadband data allowance. (Note: advertisements, analytics and authentication use data).
• Device of your choice: Optus will launch new mobile and tablet apps, and a dedicated website that will allow customers to synch up to four devices through their subscription. To broadcast EPL at a venue, register your interest here: https://offer.optus.com.au/eplbusiness.
• Screen-in-screen viewing: Subscriptions come with access to a dedicated new website that supports up to four screens, for those times when games are on at the same time.

“While you’ll need to be an Optus customer to get all the EPL action, Optus research shows that close to two in three (63%) football fans, who are not already Optus customers, are out of contract for at least one of their fixed broadband or mobile services.”[i]

“We’re confident that when these fans see our range of great value EPL-ready plans, they’ll be convinced that now’s the right time to switch. And for those not quite ready to make that extra commitment, we also have a great postpaid BYO mobile plan that will provide access to the EPL,” Mr White said.

Which connection is right for me?

Can’t do without the EPL? For fans who want a big screen solution, Optus is offering access to Australia’s 24/7 EPL channel via:

• Yes TV by Fetch set-top box: Optus customers can watch the EPL through the Yes TV by Fetch set top box, which also includes more than 35 premium entertainment channels for customers on the Entertainment package; access to streaming services like Netflix and Stan (subscriptions required); access to additional premium subscription TV services like beIN SPORTS (subscription required); the ability to record, pause and rewind live TV; 30 pre-selected rental movies each month; and the option to rent or buy from a catalogue of more than 4,500 movies. • Yes TV by Fetch Mini device: From July, Optus is introducing a mini set-top box device which extends Yes TV by Fetch to Optus postpaid mobile customers who want an entertainment experience on the TV screen from just an extra $5 per month on eligible plans. This device will work over any fixed broadband network in Australia, and will also give customers access to EPL content. (Note: data charges may apply from your internet service provider. Not available for use on the Optus Home Wireless Broadband or Optus Mobile Network.)

For customers who want their EPL action on the go, Optus’ 24/7 channel is available via an app for compatible smartphones and tablets, or through a personal computer via the Optus EPL website.

“With the start of the 2016/17 season more than three months away, we know some fans may be tempted to leave things to the last minute. Keep in mind home broadband installations can take a little time depending on your location and the type of network connection available in your area. We encourage fans to plan ahead and pre-order their EPL subscription online from 15 May,” Mr White said.

Already with Optus?

Existing customers can check online whether they are already on an EPL eligible plan when pre-order opens on 15 May.  EPL will not be available for pre-paid mobile, home wireless broadband, and other older selected postpaid mobile and mobile broadband plans.

What about Satellite?

Optus will offer a satellite option for Optus customers who live in areas where Optus is unable to provide a broadband service or whose home broadband service doesn’t support HD video content. Once customers have chosen an EPL eligible plan, they can get EPL via Optus satellite for an extra $20 per month, with a $250 one-off installation fee. (Note: installation of EPL via satellite may not be available to all homes.)

Want more football?

For a short time, Optus is giving eligible home broadband customers an even greater sports experience with access to beIN SPORTS. Sports fans can watch sports coverage from some of the world’s best sporting competitions, including live coverage of 45 of the 51 games of the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament. Customers who sign up to a $120 Home Broadband bundle – with an eligible Optus mobile service before 31 May, will receive a bonus 3 months of beIN SPORTS through their Yes TV by Fetch service. (Minimum total cost is $2880 over 24 months, excluding mobile plan cost).
