OPTUS SAYS YES TO A NEW PHONE EARLY

11 March 2016

Get a new phone after 12 months with the new postpaid My Plan Plus.

Optus has introduced even more value and flexibility to My Plan Plus. From 11 March, 2016, customers who sign up to our latest postpaid My Plan Plus will now have the option to get a new phone 12 months into their plan. There’s also the added benefit of no plan cancellation fees.

Ben White, Managing Director, Marketing and Product at Optus, said, “We know a reliable network, generous data inclusions and cancellation fees have always been top of mind when customers are looking for a new plan. That’s why with My Plan Plus we’re giving customers the freedom to trade up their handset, as well as the flexibility to leave their plan if their circumstances change.”

Optus’ postpaid My Plan range gives customers greater certainty over the cost of their data by automatically giving them an extra 1GB of data for only $10 if they used more than their monthly allowance. Each My Plan Plus plan also includes unlimited standard national calls to landlines and mobiles, and unlimited standard national SMS and generous data inclusions.

Trade Up to a new phone every 12 months

New and existing Optus mobile customers who sign up or re-contract to our latest My Plan Plus on a 24 month contract will be eligible to take advantage of the New Phone Trade Up offer after only 12 months. There are two options for customers looking to get a new phone early:

  • Swap their current phone: Customers who want to say goodbye to their current handset and trade up to a new smartphone can simply head into their local Yes Optus store, return their current phone in good working order, pay a one-off fee of $99 and get a brand new phone on a new 24 month plan.
  • Keep their existing phone: Customers also have the option of trading up to a new phone after 12 months without having to say goodbye to their current phone. Simply pay the remaining full cost of the current phone, including any amount that Optus was going to cover, and get a new phone on a new 24 month plan.

“With so many great new phones hitting the market every year, two years can seem like a lifetime to wait for a new phone. That’s why Optus has introduced the New Phone Trade Up offer, to give customers the chance to get the latest smartphones faster than ever before, while still getting the great value and inclusions of our My Plan Plus plans,” said Mr White.

More value on My Plan Plus

In addition to the new Trade up offer, customers can also choose from two new data packed plan options with My Plan Plus. We’ve packed the $100 My Plan Plus plan (minimum total cost $2400 over 24 months) with data, giving customers a massive 15GB of data to use per month within Australia. We’ve also introduced a new $120 My Plan Plus plan (minimum total cost $2880 over 24 months), which gives customers a massive 20GB of data to use per month within Australia.

Mobile Broadband

From March 11, 2016, Optus customers who sign up to a $30 and above 24 month My Mobile Broadband Plus plan, will also be eligible to upgrade to a new tablet after 12 months.

Just like trading up to a new phone, simply choose between handing in your current tablet in good working order to a Yes Optus store, paying a one off fee of $99 and getting a new tablet on a new 24 month plan; or paying the full remaining cost of your current tablet, keeping it and getting a new tablet on a new 24 month plan.

“With the new Trade Up offer available on both My Plan Plus and selected My Mobile Broadband Plus plans, this is a great time to be an Optus customer. Whether you want to keep all your data for your new phone or tablet, or pool your data and share it across your growing range of devices, there are more options than ever before,” said Mr White.

No Plan Cancellation Fees

We hope customers never have a reason to leave us, but sometimes circumstances change. Customers that sign up for our latest My Plan Plus now have the added reassurance of no plan cancellation fees. If they need to leave us before their contract expires, all they need to do is pay the remaining full cost of their phone or tablet, which will include any monthly handset credit that Optus was going to cover.
